What we need is a Bad Azz Defensive Coach
I could not stand Romo as a Raider but we need to get a former Bronco defensive player like Romo to come in and call them what they are a bunch of Candy Azzes.
I am serious.
If you watch the show after the game on 683 (DirecTV) and they have former Broncos calling in. It has to be embarrassing to them!
We looked dreadful awful in front of the whole world last night!

My frustration is Slowik isn't even the right guy to fix the mess. We need to get the right guy in there before it starts turning around and Shanahan continually shows the propensity to choose the wrong guy and then run him out of town as a scape goat when it fails. Say whatever you want about Romo but he had intensity and came to play every game.

I like Romo's intensity. I think he would call these players out when they play like chit!
We someone to get in their face! What they are doing now is not working.
Have you seen Slovick? My fifth grade niece could kick his azz on a bad day!

This isn't about a lack of fire and/or intensity this is a lack of talent.
Our defense is made up of way too many borderline NFL players...

I have always liked the Broncos! Elway was my favorite QB!
I just like Cutler because.
I know him and I have watched him since he was a freshman here at Vandy!

I think you do have a point and a good one!
This makes me miss Al Wilson even more.
in 2006 we did not allow a TD in the first 11 Quarters!
We need some D

Marvin Lewis or Marty Shottenheimer as DC. Mike Waufle (Giants) or Pepper Johnson (Pats) as DL coach. Greg Mattison (Ravens) LB coach. Slowik remains secondary coach.

All the while Layer Coyer is laughing his ass off in Tampa Bay. Too bad he couldn't beat the Colts when it mattered and got caught up in the decline of the team once the opposition figured out Plummer. I'm not saying I want Coyer back, but at least the defense was actually RESPECTABLE when he was in Denver.

We need someone old school who can yell and emotionally fire these guys up. The one weakness of Shanahan as a coach is he isn't very good at getting guys emotionally ready to play. We need a guy that can be loud and in their face to keep them motivated. Slowik is like a crappier version of Shanahan; It's too much of the same thing. I want a former player who is hard-nosed and brings a good scheme, but more than that is into getting his players to play well by working on the fundamentals: Do your job, tackle, flow to the ball and play physical. I think that is more important than any "scheme". If we have some defensive coaches on that side of the ball that can evaluate and coach new talent then the draft should be much better.
Oh, and the idea of Romo coaching is hilarious.

I agree. Coyer's schemes were not strong at all but he was able to motivate the defense to play better than their talent level. Romo obviously doesn't have the coaching expertise to step into that role but man I'd love an in-your face defensive coach like him.
On a similar note, I actually hope Slo isn't fired but demoted back to coaching the DB's. I thought he was a very solid position coach which can be hard to find in the NFL. Also, from watching a video clip after the Bucs game, the player's really respect him.

Packers fans started a "FireBobSlowik" site that's still up and running complete with in-depth statistics detailing how he dismantled what was one of the better defenses in the league before he got there. The Packers gave up the biggest plays, most points and created the least turnovers during Slowik's tenure than they did at any other point in franchise history.
Am I the only one who misses Ray Rhodes? Should have locked him up.
Is it a mind-control thing? Why else would Shanny advocate keeping such peons on the payroll? Rick Dennison is the most useless waste of oxygen in football, and Jeremy Bates - spawn of another demolisher of defense - is no guru.
Blow it up. And try to convince Musgrave to leave Atlanta and come back home and take over for Shanahan when he's done pretending he's still got it. Sadly, the Falcons appear to have a brighter future as it stands.

Hell, bring back Tommy Jackson, Grandishar, Karl Mecklenburg, Atwater, Dennis Green, S. Fletcher, hell, even Ray Crockett and Darrien Gordon.
What's Tyrone Braxton is up too?
They are all better NOW than the current players out there.

They need a DC who has a system that the players know their basic responsibilities. For the last few years especially how many times have receivers, TE's and RB's been uncovered in the passing game? Way too often and that tells me guys simply don't know who covers what from play to play.
Also, one that will make adjustments and not stubbornly go with something that isn't working every game.
But ultimately it comes to drafting DL and safeties and developing these guys who produce on the field and the Broncos have not drafted and developed much at DL or safety for quite awile now which says not only scouting is weak at those spots, but the coaching that is going on at those positions isn't getting it done either.

If you watch some of the replays from the endzone to endzone high view, you'll see that it's not the players, it's the scheme that opens up those players.
What happens is, teams will run receivers heavy to one side of the field. We're playing zone, not man.
Since our pass rush is not the greatest, receivers can run long and spread routes. The QBs wait for the plays to develop and there will eventually be an open man...
This is not our players not knowing what to do, this is the result of a ****ty cord and a ****ty scheme.

True, I'm still trying to figure out what the scheme is other than mass chaos.

Actually what you just described is the result of a ****ty pass rush. Unfortunately, we don't have enough talent to know if this scheme is any good or not.
