Thanks man. That way I can fire the HC I wanted after he makes controversial moves that end up being good decisions.

Wait... what?

It actually makes him look more stupid because McDaniels did what he wanted and he still hated on him.

I disagree. McDaniels was the HC I wanted. I was pretty clear about that, and celebrated his hiring.

I actually like this hiring.

I'll agree that he certainly doesn't have nearly the qualifications as Mike, but he certainly seems to be an innovative guy, and we can afford to be cautiously optimistic and give him a chance, yes?

And I was VERY vocal about how much I loved the defensive staff he put together... hell I even send you a nice long PM about that way back.

The Goodman situation, the Cutler trade and the Smith/Quinn draft picks really got under my skin.

Yeah, you had/have different opinions about those 3 events, but for me they were pretty large causes of concern for ME at the time.

Now did we have GREAT FA evaluations without the Goodmans? Yes

Did they draft some guys I absolutely loved going into the draft? Yes. Love Moreno, Ayers and McBath.

Did I undestimate Josh's ability to tutor QBs, fix mechanics, and play up to their strengths? After weeks 5 and 6 it certainly appears so!

So, call it "stupid" all you want, because in the end, it was wrong, but the reasons were always clear and concise whether you agreed with them or not.

Just because you felt the reasons for your ripping on him were good, that doesn't change the fact that you were ultimately completely wrong. And kudos on the Nolan and McD thing. I just think if you set your emotional connection to Shanahan and Cutler aside and looked at what McDaniels was doing and who he was bringing in, you could see at the very least he appeared to know what he was doing and was sticking to his plan. He had a very clear vision of where he wanted to go with things.

I didn't like everything either, but I really respected him for staying true to his vision in the face of the hell-storm he was taking from the locals and the media. I just wish people would have let things play out a bit first. It's all good now because it's all working and in a year, if the draft picks start emerging we'll know we're firing on all cylinders. However I'm always going to remember this offseason because it said a lot about the rationality of the people on this board. It seems like people are looking for someone to hate and if they are given even a little excuse they completely take off with it.
