Palin to face the laughs on Saturday Night Live
Last Updated: Friday, October 17, 2008 | 12:08 PM ET

Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin has confirmed she will appear on this weekend's broadcast of Saturday Night Live. A John McCain campaign spokeswoman, Jill Hazelbaker, confirmed Palin's participation on Friday. The host of the show will be Josh Brolin, who plays President George W. Bush in director Oliver Stone's new movie, W.

The combination sets up rich satirical promise for Palin, who has been famously parodied on SNL by comedienne Tina Fey

I wonder if Fey will go off script to embarrass her.

(insert Liberal joke here)

Thats funny because she has turned down every media request for an interview. Its funny after the debates they interview Biden and some other Republican not named Palin.

this is a ploy to appear "ok" with it. Just like McStain on Letterman last night.

That's all they can do though, right?

Besides, if she's in the building, the tone will be slightly less hostile to them.

Yep.

It's fitting that her most high-profile public appearance is on a comedy show.

Reminds me of Bob Roberts...the scene in that film where he does something like this. I wonder if any of the cast will walk off the set in protest.

Well aside from the free publicity it generates, it isn't like McCain and Obama haven't both been on the show at least once. And McCain has done a lot these things, SNL, Letterman, and for a long time he showed up on Jon Stewart pretty regularly. This appearance promises to be better though. She's pretty funny unintentionally, this should be interesting.

The difference is that, unlike Obama and McCain, Palin hasn't made too many TV appearances outside of this one.

It's possible that more people will watch this episode of SNL than the Couric interview, etc.

True. And while it's good for publicity points, she really should appear in more actual journalistic interviews. Though these days I have a little trouble telling the difference between real journalism and entertainment.
