...And other such things.
Mike is 8-3 all time against the Patriots.
He is 4-1 in Foxborough.
He has outscored the Patriots 293-189 all time.
The last game before the BYE, Shanahan is 8-5. Interestingly, one of those loses was against the Patriots on Monday night football. Another win was against the Patriots, and while not on MNF, it was on SNF.
Shanahan is 4-4 in his second MNF game. Two of those loses came when we were crappy (our 6-10 team and 7-9 team of the early 2000's).
It's important to also point out that of our three loses to the Patriots, one was the Deltha/safety game. The other two were seasons we finished with a losing record, and in two of the three seasons we lost the Patriots won the super bowl that season.
Belichick is 8-4 on MNF with the Patriots. If you take away their perfect season they're 6-4.
So what does this all mean? Maybe nothing, but its interesting. The trend is that if the Patriots win they have a good shot at winning the Super Bowl and if the Broncos lose they are probably going to finish below .500. That doesn't mean that's how it will go, though. Most would agree the Patriots are a shell of their former self. We're not really much to brag about, but I believe you are what your record is and we are going in at 4-2. We always seem to beat up on the Patriots.
*In looking at these stats, it was interesting seeing who the Patriots also struggled against. The Pats typically destroy the Jets and the Chiefs but struggle against us and the Dolphins. Even when the Patriots were awesome they had trouble with the Dolphins. Kind of interesting.
