Reporter: Terrell, do you have any comment as to why you were yelling at Andre Gurode?
Owens: I don't.
Reporter: Do you feel frustrated that you only caught four balls yesterday?
Owens: I don't.
Reporter: Do you have any intention of saying anything interesting about that football game?
Owens: I don't.
Reporter: So, um ... do you enjoy dressing like a jockey?
Owens: I don't.
Reporter: Then why do you look like you're about to hop on Tony Romo's back, whip him and call him Seabiscuit?
Owens: I don't.
Reporter: Yes you do. Is this your Halloween costume? Kanye West if he were a jockey? Do you intend to go trick-or-treating like this?
Owens: I don't.
Reporter: Do you have any hot tips on the Preakness?
Owens: I don't.
Reporter: Do you think Andre Gurode would look good in a lemon yellow v-neck sweater?
Owens: I don't.
Reporter: Is that why you were yelling at him? Do you think someone in a lemon yellow v-neck sweater can be just as good a person as you?
Owens: I don't.
Reporter: I'm not wearing a lemon yellow v-neck sweater. Do you think I can still be a good person?
Owens: I don't.
Reporter: Miles Austin and Patrick Crayton don't dress as stylishly as you, and Tony Romo still throws them the football. Do you deny that this makes you angry?
Owens: I don't.
Reporter: You don't deny it?
Owens: What part of "I don't" don't you understand?

Plus Marshall doesnt grip about not getting the ball or destroy locker rooms and quarterbacks. Heck, Jay Culter let Marshall sleep in his basement.

Why would Marshall gripe about not getting the ball? He must be targetted more than any other WR in the NFL. And how is sleeping in Cutler's basement a positive? Fitzgerald has never been suspended by the league.

Marshall is the best WR in the league after the catch. Oh and 400, don't forget Marshall was suspended for the first game. His stats would be much greater had he played. I have Moss, Marshall and A. Johnson on my FF team. Too bad Brady got hurt, I'd be killing right now.

Is he 28 times better? That is the question.

That's immaterial to the argument. Marshall will be wanting his soon enough.

Marshall getting suspended for the first game shouldn't be an excuse for him, it should be a knock against him.

There's gotta be a funny quote from you about Merriman's DPOY chances back in his roid season

I was actually pretty accepting of the fact that he shouldn't be considered. It was lame the way that Jason Taylor campaigned for it, though. Believe it or not, I was on the Champ Bailey wagon that year.

Fair enough. I'm in shock the whole planet wasn't on the Bailey wagon that year. Robbery.

This is football outsiders through week 5 for Fitzgerald and Marshall:
Player Team DYAR Rk YAR Rk DVOA Rk VOA Passes Yards EYds TD Catch Rate
11-L.Fitzgerald ARI 159 1 152 3 26.0% 12 24.6% 50 467 565 4 62%
15-B.Marshall# DEN 123 5 108 7 16.0% 24 12.2% 51 423 534 3 67%
Wide receivers are ranked according to DYAR, or Defense-adjusted Yards Above Replacement. This gives the value of the performance on plays where this WR caught the ball, compared to replacement level, adjusted for situation and opponent and then translated into yardage
The other statistic given is DVOA, or Defense-adjusted Value Over Average. This number represents value, per play, over an average WR in the same game situations. The more positive the DVOA rating, the better the player's performance. DVOA (and its cousin, VOA, which isn't adjusted based on opponent) is further explained here.
Effective Yards (EYds), listed in red, translate DVOA into a yards per attempt figure. This provides an easy comparison: in general, players with more Effective Yards than standard yards played better than standard stats would otherwise indicate, while players with fewer Effective Yards than standard yards played worse than standard stats would otherwise indicate. Effective Yards are not the best way to measure total value because they are more dependent on usage than DYAR.
DYAR and DVOA include all passes intended for the receiver, both complete and incomplete. Catch Rate represents the percentage of passes to this receiver completed. This is a reference to incomplete passes, not dropped passes: dropped passes are not specified in publicly available play-by-play, and unfortunately we cannot yet correct for this.
The simple version: DYAR means a wide receiver with more total value. DVOA means a wide receiver with more value per play.

For some quick perspective, that little gnome has Karl Paymah as one of the best corners in the NFL.

Had. They need to improve their sample size, but there is plenty of data there for guys like Fitzgerald and Marshall.

No matter how hard someone tries, you just can't pin environments and different circumstances into a single numerical value.
