For some, it's like an insult to not have the broncos get any "national" recognition. Is it a barometer to how "good" this team is?

I'd like you guys to explain it, because it annoys the hell out of me to hear so many people bitch about it.

*Social commentary rant deleted because, well - you wouldn't GaF anyway.

Personally, I like national attention because I like reading about my favorite sports team. National attention means more articles. More articles makes for more discussion and the occasional insight into different functions of that team. After all, that's what we're here for.

If it weren't for the current QB issue, Tenn wouldn't be getting squat nationally right now, despite the fact that they are a pretty clear top 3 team in the NFL. The NFC East is hogging about 75% of the coverage all by themselves.

Some really good teams occasionally fly under the national radar. Seems to me like J-ville has in the past been one of those teams. On the other hand, there is always the over-hyped teams. Dull-a$$ comes to mind as does Arizona.

However, really solid, well put together programs usually command (not demand) national recognition. Thats just the way it is. For us to demand more attention for our team is silly. Right now, no one believes we can do anything because our 'd' is going to limit us.

If we get no national recognition, thats fine with me. Let folks talk about whoever they want. Denver is a good franchise with a bright future. I am more excited about that than anything Wilbon or Tony might say about our team.

Thats exactly it. Instead of having just the local press saying stuff, every media outlet will be spouting the same tired, not-so-news. Although it is cool to see endless loops of Denver players in the highlight reel.

Agreed.

E!SPN has had to make some adjustments since reluctantly having to climb down from Tom Brady's nutsack.

So they have simply moved to the "Drama Division" which happens to be east coast as well. Oh and it has the current champs, oh and it has the "next Tom Pretty Boy Brady" as well.

its not just an East Coast bias though....the Chuggers get tons of attention win or lose....

National recognition isn't always a good thing. Yes, we have been getting props over our offense (which has been nonexistent the past two weeks). However, we've been getting some BAD recognition for our joke of a defense. I'd rather fly under the radar until we get a complete team going.

I dig the highlight reel stuff, instead of a 5 second clip - but some people in here really take it personally that we aren't on somewhere every 10 min

I do also understand about the different insights, etc - but some people are just angry over the "lack" of it.

Actually, I'd prefer no national attention at all. Stay quietly under the radar, until we've actually accomplished something like a SB win. Other than allowing for some individual awards like MVP, Pro Bowl, etc., national attention is simply not helpful, and can actually be harmful.

That said, if any team has a right to complain about attention disparities, it's the Giants.

also, superbowl XXXII was so satisfying that I'll die a happy broncos fan no matter what.

The upside to getting a ton of national recognition - whether its earned or not - is that the team usually gets a few more nationally broadcast games, Sun nite and Mon nite.

That's about it...national attention is irrelevant in the face of the internet.

But yeah, some want to see the team on ESPN programs and such...it's basically the same reason some want flamboyant and mouthy players on the team, because they garner more media attention. I'll always take the under the radar option over that anyday.

Sunday ticket also cancells out the more games on national TV benefit as well.

I would rather fly low and have people ignoring us, but I do want to see the players that are playing well get the respect they deserve. When the Broncos have less than a third of the sacks allowed that the Dolphins do and Jake Long is up for a nomination and Clady isn't, that really pisses me off.
