Watched Bill Poulin on team NFL team cam. He said the way ref's are calling holding, the small quicker defensive ends are ineffective because the offensive line men just grab them.

I could be imagining it, but it sure seems to me that in the past 5-7 years, what's allowed as far as engaging a linemen seems to be getting more and more lenient. In particular, it seems that O-linemen can get away with outright clutching for around a second somewhere in the rush. (Usually near the end, right before the pass is delivered.) It's almost like if you go beyond a second, they'll call it. But, it sure looks like O-linemen are holding more than they used to.

It's not so much of a conspiracy theory as it is just the belief that this might be in line with the league's well-known attempts to bend rules in favor of offenses.

That said, our D-linemen still suck.

I remember reading an article from earlier this year that said the ref would now line up on the line instead of behind it and shanahan was excited aboutthis because they'd see all the holds on Dumervil....did i dream this?

You didn't dream it, but it was never an official rule. They were considering the idea, but I don't think it worked out.

Remember, as a pass protecting effective offense - holding works for us as well...

I guarantee that Hamilton holds like a sonofabitch, just like Nalen used to. Every good lineman holds on every play if he can.
