A friend of mine has ties to Lynch. He knows for a fact that the Broncos called John Lynch last week to see if he would come back. He declined.
That is all I know. Do with this info what you will, just thought it was interesting.

We damn well better have called him .... we're starting two journeymen at safety, and both our backups were waived out of the league a month ago. Whatever happened to Lynch and Abdullah starting? What was the inside story on the Hamza meltdown? Why can't we give Rogers and Barrett a shot?
MINI-POLL: Which is/was worse?
1) Last year's DTs
2) This year's safeties

I go with last year's DT's, mainly because they are more important to the defense. I wasn't all that impressed with Hamza, so the current trash is really is only worse in Lynch's spot.
The DT's c Robertson, Thomas in his 2nd year, and Peterson playing reasonably well for a rotational guy is lightyears ahead of what we had

I agree with getting Barrett and Rogers a shot and at least some on the field playing experience.
And it is a toss-up between the suckfest of last years DT's and this years Safeties.

That's fine. I have better things to do than make stuff up on a message board and this person has been close to Lynch for years.
I can't be more specific on who it is because that person could lose their job. This same person told me a few hours before the Lynch being cut story broke that it was happening but couldn't say more because this person wasn't supposed to talk about it at all.
This info came right from Lynch himself through this person.
But you are right to be leery. Just because it's posted on the internet doesn't make something true...except in this case.;D

This is the most insightful thing I've seen you post here. If the team really did call Lynch, it is more than a little reminiscent of the year they had to beg Meck out of retirement to somewhat decrease the defense's putridness.

Yea, I was somewhat impressed that Boob pulled that reference.

I absolutely believe we've made contact with Lynch, whether or not this guy's source is correct. Our safeties are terrible, and even just in run support or as an occasional blitzer, Lynch might be effective. It would be rough for him to be worse than our current safeties.

In madden you can move Kern to Safety and he gets a 95 rating. FWIW

Right.. and I have a 'Bridge to nowhere to sell you in Alaska'.
Lynch is practicing his announcing skills.. Didn’t you see him in the game against the Saints? He was up in the booth near Aikman.. he had a headset on and was commenting on the game.. I am sure it was for tape so he has something to work with to get a job somewhere announcing.
He's done with football.

Lynch can tackle and play his assignment. That's more than any safety on the roster we have right now can do. He is slow and might get beat sometimes, but his run support and football IQ value would be a boon to this team right now.

John Lynch is dead to me.
Which means he would only be slightly less effective than our current starting safeties.
It'll be like Weekend at Bernies. We can sort of just prop lynch up in a chair mid-field somewhere. Receivers would probably STILL be afraid to run routes by him.

If we are going to be this miserable on defense I agree with the sentiment to give the young kids a chance to play and see what they bring. I saw enough of Lynch last year and he needs to become an announcer. Lets at least see what we have with the young kids so we know where we stand for the draft and free agency next year.

I agree. If we're going to suck, we might as well be playing the youngsters. Moss, Crowder, Larsen, Woodyard, "MF" Williams and Barrett should all be getting major snaps - IMO.

Because he has decided he is done. In his mind, it was like he was cut even though he wasn't (as was so kindly pointed out), the Broncos forced the issue.
He is going to pursue TV.

Dennis Smith also came out of retirement with him that time if I'm not mistaken.
Anyways, Lynch would be of little help, the guy's tank is empty.

I think I saw him out there on some plays last weekend, but I already deleted the game. No way I can watch that mess again.
You can see Shanahan starting to work in Williams, too. Given, he shouldn't have been our their #1 WR, but it's nice to see he has enough faith to give him playing time.
