Totally agree, I mean, the Chiefs had so many possessions starting or damn near starting in Denver territory, and the Chiefs were mainly getting field goals. If offense scores a couple touchdowns instead of field goals in the red zone, its a different story. Plus, the turnovers. Ugh.
Offense was a disaster. It was amazing we were still in the game.

Stokely is right.
But then the defense only played well because its the ****ing Kansas ****ty Chiefs.

That's funny, the D only gave up 33 points and the O had too many turn overs. Sounds like the whole team let themselves down.

That statement in and of itself is embarrassing.

I think everyone could have played better but I definitely think the offense made a lot of mistakes that hurt the team. And what is wrong with out cleats? Our players were slipping around like it was the mud bowl.

Watching Johnson run the way he did on that last TD had me embarrassed. Who did they think was going to get the ball?

The offense was a dissapointment, but in now way does the defense deserve any sort of credit.
They suck, they are horrible, they are the worst in the league.
This is the first game the offense stunk, this is the 3rd game the defense has.

The defense played well considering the position the offense and special teams consistantly put them in. Still, it was the chefs. There seemed to be a general malaise from Shanny on down. Oh well. Let this be a wakeup call, if they needed one. No team is a walkover.

Defense didn't play that bad. the chefs had a short field to work with on most possesions in the first half and the defense held them to 3 points on almost each one. The game was close because of the defense, it could have been a blow out at the half if it weren't for our defense.

I'm puzzled why you guys couldn't get touchdowns. Our pass rush is terrible. Cutler just had an off day...and still threw for 360.

i think they let him get the TD. absolutely zero chance of anything happening if they dont let him. 1 in a million we win if they do let him.

The defense gave up 33 points. What game did they keep who in? 33 points to the Chiefs. LAWL their season average was 10.7

"They kept us in the game when we shouldn't have been in it."
Well, that was nice of Brandon to say. It's patently false, however.
No one blames our D for giving up a couple of scores when they were put in a bad spot. However, they gave up crucial 3rd down plays when the game was on the line that had nothing to do with the offense.
Brandon is being classy and maybe even trying to give the D a confidence boost. But, that was the worst offense in football, folks. They sliced through us like a knife through hot butter... no matter where they started from.
Defenses need to stop people. Ours never can.

If not for a couple of fluke turnovers and a missed field goal, I think you know we would have won this game, even on an off-day for us.
Enjoy your win, tubby. That was your Superbowl. It's all downhill from here.

Here is the test regarding our defense: does anyone honestly feel, when they are on the field, that they will stop the opposition?
People can and do score on us every possible ways. Big, stupid plays. Long, demoralizing drives. Run. Pass. Blow assignments. Just physically run over. Overpursuit. Schematic deficiencies. It's a total joke.

We turned the ball over and missed a field goal, too.
Stop making excuses and realize your run game and run defense got PUNKED today. Just like the last time you played Larry Johnson we BLUDGEONED your defense to death.
Some things never change.

Nice of Brandon to say, but I doubt anyone believes him. I can't get my head around how bad the D is. I'd be surprised if the Chiefs score more than 20 in any game for the rest of the year.

Get over it? What's to get over? We handed KC their token gift-win we tend to do once a year. This game means nothing and proved nothing except that our offense couldn't carry us all year, which we knew.

Given, the game was probably lost by that point... but you never know.

The defense kept the Broncos in the game during the first half. Turnovers killed the Broncos and then the defense wore down in the 4th quarter. Cutler and the offense played uninspired football.

Yea, we spotted them a couple of scores in the first half... but that doesn't explain the rest of the 33.
Our offense had an off-day, but it doesn't mean our defense didn't as well.
This goes back to the Brian Griese/Jake Plummer days when people would try to tell us that it was the offense's fault that the defense played poorly.
It's not. They just play poorly, no matter who is QB... no matter who is coaching, and apparently no matter what players we bring in.

This game was all KC from the start. They deserve credit there. We came out and played like we were intimidated from jump street. Pathetic really. The offense was reading their press clippings all week and the D is very near the bottom in the league for a reason.

I had been yelling at them ever since KC got into field goal range to just let them score. What did they think would happen if they forced a field goal? Let them score and hope for a miracle.

Exactly. Every team in the NFL is going to have a game here and there where they turn the ball over and make mistakes on offense, which is why you can't win championships without a good defense. Look at the Colts. They were tearing the league apart with Manning, Jame and those receivers but it wasn't until they got a D they could win it all.
This problem is not just about today. It's about the last 10 years. We've been trying to field a defense ever since Elway left and have absolutely no clue how to do so. We've gone through the Browncos...the merry-go-round of DC's...the wasted draft picks...the washed up free agents...t's a ridiculous joke. The Offense deserves some criticism...no doubt...but TODAY does not negate what the real problem is. Until Mike Shanahan figures out two things; what his ultimate philosophy is on this side of the ball, and how to commit to that long term with building a young and talented foundation around that...this problem will not be going away.

Exactly.
Any team in this league can put up points on offense. But not many of them can prevent the others from doing so.

QFMT. (Quoted for maximum truth.)
We had the Griese/Plummer distraction around these boards for so long, most people just refused to see it. It's been apparent to many of us for years.
We have a top notch QB and guess what? We still won win a playoff game without a D, folks.
