View Full Version : Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James

Their first meeting will be televised tonight on ESPN.
Despite poor games in their last time out - 3-12 for 8 points for James on Saturday and a ghastly 1-13, 2 point effort for Anthony last night - both rookies appear to be as good as advertised.

Let's just hope 'Melo got the bad game out of his system last night. What a dog of a performance that was.
Not to state the obvious but I'm willing to bet that tonight will be a low scoring affair by both teams...
Hope 'Melo takes it to 'em!

Not a Nuggets/Cavs fan (actually Bulls and they are the worst flop in the league right now) and I'm excited to see the highlights of this game-(not worth watching in entirety)! I think in the end, Mello will win the rookie of the year award-just a hunch.

The game is looking good so far. Both LeBron and Carmelo have had their great moments, and some not so great moments in this game.
Go Nuggets, been a fan of them just as long as I've been a Broncos fan, and they're my only favorite team that I haven't witnessed winning a Championship.

I think the Warriors have a solid coach in Musselman (think it's him).
I was rather impressed w/their progression as a team last year.
I think their management mangled the team, not the coach.

'Melo dropped 26 points, 8 rebounds and 5 steals on the Bulls tonight and the Nuggets are at .500. Thank you, thank you, thank you Detroit for Taking Darko.

He looked great huh! 'Melo will be streaky this season, but I'm very excited to see him get better and better every week.. If the New-ggets can maintain a .500 record into December, I'll be very geeked up for them

Our (warriors) coach is excellent. What he's done with no help from ownership or mangment is just superb. Doesn't change the fact that we suck. I think if we could just stay healthy (richardson goes down with ankle sprain last night ::) ) we might have an outside shot at that 8th spot in the west. we are heavy injured right now and we are hanging with the div.

Sure don't hear people talking about Darko Millicic of Detroit now.
He could be potentially (I know most will disagree) the most talented of the 3 in 5 years time, A Dirk Nowitzki clone.

i think it's good for him not to be talked about, kinda the low spotlight deal -- less pressure IMO

Remember when Mock told you that Mello was the Number one pick in the draft?
He's allready leading the team after two weeks, and getting 5.4 boards to boot.
And guess what folks, HE CAN SCORE, something King James and that Hungarian Stiff can't do.

It's pretty cool that the media hype and obsession for a stiff center let Mello drop to Denver.
This team is finally on the way up.

The Nuggets have had a couple of things go their way big time recently (and that's a major first for this organization).
1. Memphis was awarded the 2nd pick, which they were forced to give to Detroit to complete a prior trade. Jerry West, the GM of Memphis, was absolutely in love with Carmelo Anthony and publicly stated that Detroit would be insane to pass on him for Darko Milicic. If Detroit doesn't end up in that #2 slot, 'Melo's not a Nugget and Darko is. Whew.
2. All the Lebron hype is taking a big load off of 'Melo. While Lebron is soaking up the majority of the attention, 'Melo is being allowed to go through his expected rookie ups and downs while cutting his teeth in the pros. The kid is averaging 18 points per game and that's just the tip of the iceberg as to what he's capable of. ESPN can drool over Lebron all they like, I'm happy having 'Melo and a better team (which several of ESPN's "experts" claimed Cleveland had).
3. Earl Boykins is a stud. No other team gave this guy a look during free agency and he appears determined to make them pay for it.
They may not be a playoff team in the ultra-comptetitve Western Conference just yet, but they're on their way.

Couldn't have said it any better than that Clockwork.
If hype for LeBron is going to continue, then the Cavs had better win more games or he will just be a novelty while hopefully 'Melo will be tearing it up helping Denver play over .500 ball this year.

I was proud of the way 'Melo hung in there last night. He was scorless in the first half and was clearly frustrated with his play, but he kept his head up and ended up scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds for the game as the Nuggets beat Milwaukee.

Shannon Sharpe and Clinton Portis in the Nuggets house giving Carmelo some love last night. -- I think in Denver that degree of celebrity surpasses Nicholson and Cannon....
Good kid that 'Melo. He bought seats for 75 kids last night.
One of the announcers last night made a comment after one move that the kid looked like a young Magic Johnson. That would be pretty easy to live with.

'Melo drops 26, Vo Lenard drops 38 and the Nuggets win their 5th in a row to improve to 12-6. That's 5 wins short of their season total from last year. They won 4 games on the road all of last year, they've won 4 already this year.
All of this just 24 hours after a packed house at Pepsi Center watched 'Melo outplay Lebron (again) and the Nuggets sweep away the Cavs. Suck on that ESPN hype machine.
The depth of this Nuggets team is something else. Nene has been a beast since coming back from the groin injury. Chris Andersen is one of the leagues top shot blockers despite only playing 16 minutes per game. The point guard rotation of Miller & Boykins has been teriffic. Voshon Lenard seems to be getting even hotter since he was named Western Conference player of the week.
Oh yeah, and 'Melo is the man.:D

Man we sucked on Defense last night, I think the nuggets are only the second team to score over 100 on us. Damn it all, well here's hoping the Sharks can do what the warriors couldn't! ;D

Patience pays off I guess :)
