You have set yourself up as an advesary on this board. You talk with a lot of bravado, and you do a lot to bring attention to yourself. In your very short time here, you have built yourself a pedestal in an attempt to rise above everybody else on the board. But what you're missing is that this board has history. People know people here because they've been posting with them for years in many cases, and have even met in many cases through this site. This site is like small city where everybody knows everybody. ...And you're the guy rolling into town with the megaphone trying to sell us all on how lucky we are to be having you here screaming in our ears. To mix the metaphor, people are going to aim to knock you off that pedestal, mostly because it's easy pickings. It's not well grounded with a base of support.


It doesn't matter how great you think that your knowledge is. Ultimately what matters is how great your fellows think your knowledge is. Otherwise, what use is it to post it?

Nobody's asking you to be a "yes master" type of poster here. What I am asking is for you to evaluate what your goals are here.

Let me share mine:

1. Get my opinion out as truthfully as possible, even if that means saying something that someone else might not like to hear.

2. Respect my fellow posters by backing up my opinions with facts, analysis, and/or supporting evidence (ie. links).

I've found that these two simple rules are all one needs in order to be free to post whatever they want on any board that they get themselves involved in. Not that they won't meet with resistance and disagreement. But a person who does this will always have supporters who agree with him and would be angry to see the poster banned without a good cause.

That said - I've seen your archetype come and go. Rather than swallow some pride and try and find a place in the community, typically this type continues to engage in prideful battles, drawing much attention to himself and eventually infecting several threads with the nonstop combat. And then one day, that person says something that completely crosses the line. And at that point, it's between a mod and the poster - only the poster doesn't have any say in the matter, because their actions to this point will have spoken for them.

Previously, I had asked you to consider your goals. I asked this because at that moment, when I'm sitting on top of the ban button, I ask myself one question: "Based on their record, what intentions does this poster have in being here in the first place?" If I can't come up with anything that I consider salvagable, then I've got no choice but to protect this community.

This is not a threat, but an invitation.
