Can one of you tell me exactly what the rule is illegal procedure...formation, that Denver was called for a couple of times during the Oakland game?

I was thinking that so long as seven players are on the line and the outside most WR's are on the line that it is a legal formation. But my review of the tape didn't bear that out.

A little help please...

is that the one where they were in the RZ? If so Royal was not lined up right.

you need the outside most receiver on each side of the football lined up on the line of scrimmage, I believe. Royal was lined up off of it to avoid the jam, a big no no.

He was about a 1/2 yard back... Easy mistake to make...

Well his mistake, cost him a 2nd TD catch.

You need the same amount of people lined up on the line of scrimmage on each side of the center, so if you have a TE on the line on one side you need a WR on the line on the other side. In the situation where Royal lost his TD, he should have lined up on the line because Graham was on the line on the other side.

WRs are supposed to check with the refs to make sure they are lined up correctly. I've seen many WRs point at the ref to check with him, and not even look at the ref to what the ref says. It's kind of strange.

The WR's check to make sure they are not lined up in the neutral zone, not to make sure they are in correct formation, which royal wasnt on that play

Sorry, that is not correct . . . .

You can line everyone on one side of the center if you want, as long as 7 are on the LOS.

EDIT: I just looked at the NFL rule book, and it says is that 7 players are required to be on the line of scrimmage, all others, except the one taking the snap, have to be at least one yard back from the line of scrimmage.

So there you go . . . .

Yeha the rule is only that 7 need to be on the line of scrimmage. The part where you get into covered and uncovered receivers only affects whether a receiver is eligible to catch a pass or not.
