Don't know about that Dave. I have been sitting in Orvis Hot Springs the last 4 days and all I hear is women singing the praises of Palin. They seem to think she is the true conservative this country needs. They seem to think she is running for president.

It's mind boggling to watch the right-wing handjob he's debating just ignore the facts and continue lying.
I guess he knows he can get away with lying when those who own the media have a vested interest in seeing Bush's policies continued.

She is a publicity stunt... It will wear off.
They are scarred to death to let this lady talk, on top of that 30% of everything out of her mouth is either a lie or at least a half-truth. This entire campaign is a house of cards waiting to collapse.

After just listening I am beginning to think people are dumber than I have given them credit for.

Well that was a weird conversation.
Begala: "She pushed for lots of pork"
Other guy: "No she turned it down"
Begala: "Actually it's public record..."
Other guy: *silence*
haha

Don't get your hopes up man. Have you seen the news lately? She's "spawning a craze" for upswept 90s hair and those glasses...
For as much as the Right complains about media bias, the media can't get enough of her right now. It's funny that while they are fawning all over her, the McCain camp is saying they're being biased against her.

Last year, Palin requested more earmarks (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2008154532_webpalin02m.html) per person than any other state -- including some that were criticized ...

Looks like the "liberal" media picked up McCain's meme: "this election isn't going to be about issues - it's going to be about personalities."

Campaigns and Lies
Nobody really expects politicians to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, but the willingness of the candidates to brazenly tell out-and-out lies has reached a new high this year. In the past, politicians would shade the truth a bit and if they were caught, would stop. No more. The Washington Post has a story (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/09/09/AR2008090903727.html?hpid=topnews) on that today. One example: "McCain says rival Barack Obama would raise everyone's taxes, even though the Democrat's tax plan exempts families that earn less than $250,000." But a poll taken Sept. 5-7 shows that 51% of the voters thought Obama would raise their taxes. Republican strategist John Feegery said: "these little facts don't really matter." What he means is that the campaign is trying to exploit the long-standing Republican theme that Democrats raise taxes and Obama's promise to raise taxes only on the rich is an unimportant detail that can be safely ignored. In the past the press called candidates to order when they lied. Now the model is to give each side equal time, even if one is brazenly lying. For example, if Obama wanted to motivate younger voters, he could say: "McCain will bring back the draft and everyone under 21 will be sent to Iraq." There is not a shred of evidence for this, of course, but the press would dutifully report it along with McCain's outraged denial. But the seed would be planted. Three days later there would be a poll showing that 35% of the voters think McCain will bring back the draft. That's how the game is played these days. It ain't beanbag.
