Remember when Plummer passed the ball and every game he would have 4 passes that were nearly intercepted and a lot of the time he was flying by the seat of his pants? Half the time I would just rather have Denver run the ball instead of having Plummer pass and this was even when he was playing good. You just never felt good about him throwing the ball even when he was successful. You can't say that about Cutler. He was so in control. He was vitually flawless.
While I was watching the game I was amazed at the offense, and more to the point Jay Cutler. He was so poised, so accurate, so flawless. I don't think I ever remember Elway ever having that perfect of a game. Cutler was never rattled, never hit (outside of that scramble), never for one moment lost an ounce of concentration, and he gave the impression that he could do anything he wanted to.
While the game was going on I was not even worried one bit about him passing the ball. I wasn't worried about him getting sacked, or throwing an INT. He was in total and complete conntrol. That is very very rare. Even QBs that throw for 400 yards and 4 TDs have bad moments where they get sacked, throw an INT, throw a bad pass, get hit after he throws the ball, have an almost INT. That never happened. There was not one play in the game where a Raider defender had a chance at an INT. Really pretty amazing.
Royal had a great game, an awesome game but make no mistake about it. The real MVP was Cutler. He instilled confidence and leadership that hasn't been seen around here in 10 years. I stated a few months back that Cutler would go to the Pro football HOF if Shanny stayed in Denver and I think that is even more obvious now.
I like what Shanny said about Cutler. He stated that "Jay has IT" He sure does.
