View Full Version : Royal's play to send msg to Marhsall
I was just thinking about this as I read quotes from Cutler that Royal beat Hall time after time after time. A great start from the rookie no doubt. No doubt Marshall couldn't be happeir for his teamate but it also sends a clear message to Marshall that being the #1 guy is not something that should be taken lightly. Marshall now knows there is another player at the table so to speak. I think Marshall does want to do great things here but as many coahces have said, there is nothing better then good competition to bring out the best in your players. Maybe the best advice Jay could ever give to Marshall was said last night.................ON THE FIELD.

I guess so.
They both will be heavily involved, first one to get open WINS! (win = pass throw to you)

good point. Nothing motivates good players better than being upstaged or shown that the team can produce without him. Royal put up almost 150 on 9 catches with a TD, Marshall probably wants to hit 200 on 10 catches with 2 TD's. Good players can bring out the best in one another. Now hopefully Marshall has the motivation to want to go out and show everyone why he is the number 1 guy on this team.

B Marsh is the man, hands down. Royal played one hell of a game, and held down the fort. We played the Raiders! I can not wait for the route combos that are in store for the Chargers.

It's a good thing that Marshall isn't a punk bitch like Javon or he would be talking about how he doesn't fit in this offense because of how well Royal played last night. Javon and Lelie deserve the raiders.
Royal and Marshall on the field at the same time gives us a great advantage. I can't wait for Sunday...
..............and possibly something more scary then those 2 will be the fact SD's 3rd corner, or safety or LB will have to try and cover Shef, Stokley or Jackson. That could be ugly. I have visions of Marhsall, Royal, Stokely and Shef all downfield and Cutler dumps it off to Hall in the flat and he runs for 30 yards before he's even touched becuase he so wide open. LMAO

Jackson's catch and run was really nice as well. We can only hope that apposing teams try to take BMARSH away. If we get single coverage on the other side of the field with the apposing team's #2 cb on a guy like Royal or even Jacksonl...look out.
If anything, BMARSH should understand that 100 balls might not be in the team's best interest. I mean, with all of these targets at Cutler's disposal, it just might be best to spread the love around!

OK let not get ahead ourselves here. It was ONE very good game. But there are rookie that come in have one good game and don't do anything else the rest of the season.
Right now Marshall is and will remain Denver best WR!

Harrison and Wayne seem to get along pretty well.
Anyway, Marshall will be happy enough to be the first guy that gets his contract reworked. Eddie Royal will be working his rookie deal for a few years before he gets paid.

Reason and rational thinking has no place here.
Obviously if you had seen Royal's TD catch in slow-mo you missed him burning Hall, going up into the stands to get a hot dog, and then making the catch.

Agreed. It seems like a worthless discussion anyhow. Royal looks like the real deal but Marshall is freak of nature and a known commodity.
I started to become annoyed last night with Mike cubed(3). They kept going on and on about how Marshall was Cutler's primary target, almost like it was a bad thing. Not one time did they mention Marshall is a beast with the ball in his hands, and a master at YAC. They should have shown some of the numerous highlights from last year.

I'm starting to think some of the posters here really believe we're in week 17 and these guys have played like last night - all year long. Good game, piss poor opponent - we still have work to do.

Actually he did. He just got thirsty, drank it, disposed of the contents in a recycle bin, and returned for the catch.

Heh, those posters won't just turn on Royal, they'll turn on the team and Shanahan if things start to go wrong.
There's threads talking about how Vince Young is bipolar--lolz. The Mane has proven to be bipolar. Enjoy the ups I guess, but ****, it gets gloomy around the downs.

Eddie Royal doesn't use Fed Ex, he uses JMFW-ograms, they are delivered by an angry short guy who will tear your head off and defecate in your neckhole if you don't pay attention.

When Marshall returns there will be fewer balls for all the receivers. Scheffler needs to focus just a little more in the end zone and Royal needs to know where his place is on the line of scrimmage.

I think Royal is the type who knows that staying humble will only be good for his career. Marshall I think would be pissed and whine like a baby if Royal was made the go to guy. Hopefully they will both realize that Jerry Rice was better because of John Taylor, and Swan because of Stallworth, Eddie Mac and Rod Smith.
It only helps players to have other good players around you. Share the glory, and then share in victory. That's what team is all about.

Marshall said publicly after Javon's "I don't fit in this offense" hissy fit that there were plenty of catches for everyone. I don't think he's going to have a problem with Royal getting some looks.
Besides, it doesn't much matter because Cutler will throw it to whoever gets open. He's shown that he's more than happy to spread the ball around.

I dont think that sends any kinda message to Marshall actually.
It actually says that we have two great wide outs and there gonna do big things.
And that Jay cutler is bigger than the NFL and can make plenty wide outs look good.
Marshall said it two weeks ago that Royals gonna come out and basically kill the raiders and the rest of the NFL.....
This is not brand new that Royals doing this......Not to anybody whose been paying attention.
Dont know why your swinging it into some kinda Marshall job being up in the air

Seems like you are the idiot. Dove Valley this. Camp that. When real bullets fly, that is the real test. Nobody said these 2 guys were not going to work together. In fact, I stated that Marshall would be happy for Royal. Go back and start reading again and this time put on your glasses so you can frickin read. What the topic was about is how star atheletes can sometimes take for granted what they got and that new kids can come in and push them. That's just what Marshall did a few years ago was it not? Has nothing to do with onfield issues or them being a unit. It's a message that says to Marshall, okay, running out of chances with my off the field issues. Do you have a problem when you read that sometimes you don't understand what it is that you just read? I wonder about that.

You're reply to me using my quote said this is nothing brand new. My reply said Dove Valley and camp have nothing to do with real bullets. You then go on to say that I somehow imply that "Dont know why your swinging it into some kinda Marshall job being up in the air". How the F do you come up with me saying that Marshall's job is in the air? Gimme me a flipping break dude. If you want to be totally realistic about it, his job could be up in the air if he has more off the field issues. If he gets suspended again (maybe for half the season or something) you think Mike will want him around? Clue in bro, clue in.

I think we all hope for that and he probably won't (hand on bible, fingers crossed). But I also know that sometimes guys just don't get it. You hope they change and even they hope they change but sometimes they don't, for whatever reasons. I'm sure Henry didn't want to have any more kids after the 7th and 8th but we all know how that turned out.

Marshall is still the main man no questions.
But Brandon is not gonna get 100 balls again this year, Jay is going to spread it out too much for that to happen.
Remember Royal also will get touches through punt returns, so there will be enough for him and Marshall to share.
But man Royal was a shifty little **** last night, he crossed Hall up with his route running

I would normally say the same thing, but did you see the way that he ran routes and the heady play to throw the ball away on the reverse pass option? I have always wondered why more recievers don't do this. Kid is years ahead in understanding and maturity.

I think the message Marshall is going to get from Royal's performance is that he's going to have less coverage rolling his direction, and that will mean more yards for BMarsh.

Jokeland had a top 10 pass defense last year...and Hall/Nmandi are considered upper echelon CBs. What Royal was able to do, AS A ROOKIE, was incredible. Jerry rice, no...Gary Clark, probably.

If that is true and the can learn to understand they are better with each other then without then they could have a nice 5 plus yr run or even longer.
Broncos almost seem on the verge of having the type of offense that stays together with low turnover in the offseason. When that happens you end up deep into the playbook because guys remember all the stuff from the yr before.
With a young oline, young wr, young rbs, young qb, young TE broncos seem to have it.
