How about matt prater tonight....he was 2/2 on fg's, with a long of 43 yards. Also had 3 deep kicks in the endzone. Although he didn't have to make the pressue keep elam has made over the years, this is still a great sign for our new kicker...
much props..:sunshine:

nice call...it was a good game to break him in...not too much pressure, but I'm sure he felt it anyhow...he hit it strong and true...so far so good

i was impressed with his fg's. especially the 43 yarder, plenty of leg, right down the middle.

he had me worried, that first kickoff was abysmal, but he rebounded nicely!

He's going to be fine. His kick offs were nice too. :)

I think the wind was blowing a bit tonight. From one end he would kick off to about 8 yards deep in the end zone and the other direction it would only make it to the 5.
He was solid tonight.

That's my boy. I'd give him a solid A-.
The good part about the kickoffs that didn't reach the EZ was that they seemed to have good hang time. The coverage teams (after the first kickoff) seemed to consistently make contact with the returner between the 10-15 yd line.....so he definitely wasn't kicking line drives like Todd S used to.

I was really happy to see Matt play well, too. Great distance on the KOs and perfect with FGs. That's all you can ask of the guy.
Nice work, Matt!!

Abysmal is a bit harsh..it was ordinary compared to his others though.

Coverage was abysmal on that one. But it was much improved as the game went on.

Great start for Prater- we won't know about the nerves w/Prater until it is time to run a "Toro" drill ala Elam @ Buffalo last year.
