Wow! And they wouldn't let Lynch and Champ change jerseys to honor Darrent in the PRO BOWL. I guess since he legally changed his name, but still.

CINCINNATI - Call him Ocho Cinco on the field, too.

The National Football League decided on Thursday to recognize receiver Chad Johnson’s legal name change to Chad Ocho Cinco. The new name will be on the back of his Cincinnati Bengals uniform for the season opener in Baltimore on Sunday.

The receiver had his name changed in his home state of Florida last week. It’s a reference to his uniform number — Ocho Cinco means “eight five” in Spanish. When the NFL celebrated Hispanic Heritage month in 2006, he wore it on the back of his uniform for pregame warmups, but had to remove it for the game because of NFL rules — it wasn’t his real name.

real as can be, the NFL is in the process of changing all the stats and **** to reflect such. He changed it in Florida two weeks ago.

Watch out for the old guys coming with their pitchforks and fist shaking angrily. They're slower, but still fierce.

"Back in my day, players didn't pull these shenanigans! The year was 1945, and we paid a nickle for Coke, which was called soda-pop at the time..."

You should never root for an injury...even if it's for the likes of him.

He doesn't have the stats to be memorable and is becoming more fragile each passing year...he'll be gone soon enough, be patient.

And as such, giving in to what he craves -- attention.

It's like the people who hate Bob's posts, but reply to them each and every time.

Amusing, actually. Chad Johnson is on the mind of his detractors more than those who like him or are indifferent.

So, what you're saying is I am giving him exactly what he wants. Damn, he got me.

Well, I started this thread just to get you to post and give me this attention that I need, so thank you! I am now going to legally change my name to crowebomber, so get ready feed my need for attention once again.

Chad has already publicy stated that he will be changing his name back to Johnson when this season is over. So its better to hope he falls in love, runs off to California, marries some dude with the last name Dickface and changes his name to reflect his position as the wife in the relationship.

Now if BMarsh even starts contemplating BS like this we need to tell Cutler to smack him around a bit.

If his name is Ocho Cinco shouldn't the NFL or the team only have to put his "last" name on the jesey? In this case Cinco and hence not what he wanted.

He should have changed it to Chad Ocho-Cinco just to make sure someone who is pissed at him (i.e. Marve Lewis) doesn't make them only put Cinco on it.

And he is going to make a lot of money by doing it. Attention whore or not, the guy is gonna fleece America with merchandise sales.

I admire him for that at least. Dude had a simple plan to make a **** ton of money (and believe me, this is money driven). Hell of an idea from a marketing perspective.

"Ahaha..ever get the feelin' you've been cheated?" - J. Rotton

It bothers me that fleecing fans is possibly the main motivation behind it all. You can say it's to poke at Goodell, but who is really benifiting by it and at the cost of whom?

Plenty of stupid fans will fall into the trap and buy the same jersey again with the one year stunt on it for anywheres from $80 for a rep to $240 for an authentic. Johnson and NFL marketing will get their respective cuts and laugh all the way to the bank. It's mindboggling so many fans are willing to support this blatent money grab, then again, intelligence was never a strong point of his fan base anyways.

Why does it bother you Hogan?

Does it bother you that Elway made a lot of money by Jersey sales?

Would it bother you if Little had sold a bazillion jerseys?

Who cares how it gets done, he improved his marketing stock dramatically. Yes I know you dont like anything that has to do with anything anywhere. Im still trying to figure out, outside of Sassy, what you do like.

Chad Johnson (I admire the name change for money reasons but Im not calling him that) did something that is 1) Funny, 2) Is going to make some money, 3) Makes fun of Goodell, and 4) Pisses you off so in my mind thats perfect for me.

Elway, Little (or anyone else for that matter) never changed their name in a attempt to get more cash out of fans before. The dim-witted will be sucked into it for sure...so pony on up if you think it's so wonderful an idea, put your money where your mouth is and buy one.

How do you feel about the fleecing of Raider fans? Every year they get fooled into thinking their team might play some football.
