im curious what will happen with champ? hes the reason boss signed here for the most part, how do you cut our best players brother and not expect blowback from it? i think at this point we are committed to boss for atleast this entire year, if not longer...

(from the nalen thread)

Boss is going to be given every chance to succeed here. If for whatever it doesn't work out (barring the organization treating Boss poorly) I'm sure Champ is smart enough to understand that and not use it against the Broncos.

I don't see why it's a bad thing to be commited to Boss anyway. He's a very talented and solid player who has had bad luck with injuries.

Perhaps not, but I think the question is valid thinking forward to next year and the year after.

I would say that depending on how it fell out there would definitely be the potential for strife with the brother. They are both professionals who recognize that it is a business, but things like this don't always end amicably and business or not there can be bad blood.

I for one, don't think that too many more years are going to pass before we need to draft a top tier CB

He just sucked in DET. He wasn't that good.

Can we look at the positives right now before we declare a bust?

It's a long season, and we haven't seen a game yet.

Well, not in person - but my one friend is a vikes fan and another is a lions fan - and both laugh that we got boss. I've seen several DET games a year and he isn't all that. He misses lots of tackles.

I don't know why people can say he sucks. Made of glass? Yes. Sucks? We don't know yet.

doesn't everyone suck in Detroit?

I don't judge him on that, their defense was on the field quite a bit

At this point, I say he pans out. We really have not seen him on the field other than the first play getting hurt. He'll be fine

I honestly don't believe that Shanahan would have brought him in if his last name wasn't Bailey. He didn't exactly light up the world in Detroit.

I feel like Boss will be here for at least another season. If he doesnt work out by then it wouldnt suprise me if we cut him but he is here at least through next season.

i agree completely...this is a stop gap solution at best, and one that makes champ happy and hopefully makes him play better. boss will likely play better too though so well see

Boss Bailey in my eyes have always been a bit a risk for any NFL team he has been on. He may play a really good game or two... but then he gets hurt. To me Boss is pretty much made of glass.

I will give him a clean slate his first year in Denver......

If he plays 14 games this year ill be satisfied......

If Wesley takes his spot ill be fine also.

My Lions fan (hardcore lions fan) coworker swears he's good. I always thought he was an athletic guy with average footballs skills that couldn't stay healthy. We'll see.

i am pretty sure that Boss will play out the length of his contract. Champ's deal runs out after next season so to keep Champ happy and willing to resign with Denver his bro will be under contract with Denver even if he ends up splitting time with another LB

I dont think Champ cares if his Brother gets released or not...

Champs a pro and will make his own decisions.

He told Boss not to come to Denver just because he was there anyway. Told him o come to Denver to be a Bronco.

The most telling thing you need to consider about rating how Bailey played in Detroit is that their division rival Green Bay Packers, who have made some damn nice moves rebuilding their defense of late, wanted to sign him as a starter this year. He chose Denver to be with Champ, but if it wasn't for that he was probably gone to Green Bay.

To me that says some very smart talent evaluators who saw him twice a year liked what they were looking at.

He just had no place in a 3-4. I think Champ will understand.

Maybe Champ is happy because they released him early instead of really late. Players like a long time to look for new team etc.

Mountain Bronco

I am sure Champ is torn. He want success for his brother, but he seems like a pro, who knows it is a business. Also, I am sure Champ wants to win, and Boss wasn't helping in that aspect.

or a 4-3. Dude is injury prone and isnt worth the money. Maybe when they come with a 5-2, then he is the man.

He'll be signed somewhere in the next couple days, we'll
have plenty to talk about then.

He'll be signed somewhere in the next couple days...

With his current injury situation I'm not so sure. Teams don't line up to sign players who can't stay healthy. Unless he's close to being ready to play he may be on the market for a while.
