View Full Version : Are we playing on that stupid dirt infield Monday?

Is it the same old September dirt field this week? That was one of the first things I thought when I saw it on the schedule. It seems ridiculous that with today's technology, they couldn't figure out a way to adequately cover a dirt infield with a little grass (or maybe just get their own stadium, but I digress).

Man, I remember a time when I felt more than pity for that sorry franchise.

i hate that. It ruins the game IMO. NFL should make a rule every team has to have a full grass field. Make the baseball players play on grass infield? of course you wouldn't that would be silly and ruin the game. It's the same with football its made to be played on a full grass field, no frigging bare hard dirt!!!

its just easier to slip right? no added risk of knee/ankle injuries like on the old astro turf?

you would think with all the money they make the fields would all be things of absolute perfection in every stadium.

By end of yr KC's field looks like they staged a truck and tractor pull on it.....Hell they probably do.

Dirt areas of the field will benefit offense more then defense. The scuttlebutt is that it's harder for dline to get off quick and the pass rush suffers.

Actually, it increases the risk of injury. Far more slips/caught cleats when transitioning from the dirt to grass. It'll make for an ugly game.

Nah. It only looks like that because some of the more feminine KC fans use the field to graze during the week.

(Make a note. That's probably the only time you'll see "feminine" and "KC fans" in the same sentence.)

Plus, you pretty much have to go with a longer cleat. Without it, getting any kind of grip on the dirt is almost impossible - especially the kind of dirt they have to use for a MLB-quality infield. Get those longer cleats on the grass, and it's awkward at best - dangerous, at worst.

You know in the old days they played on mud. Would it be nice to play on all grass? Yeah. But they have to play on it too. At least we only do so once a year.

Really what else did you expect from al davis? he would be playing games at the high school field if it had enough seats.

I would say thats to our benifit since we dont have one anyway.

I don't mind it for road games.

Football should be played in the elements, mud, rain, sleet, snow.

I also think face masks are for pussy's. Who needs teeth?

I think kicking field goals can suffer when doing it from the dirt infield, too. I hope we don't lose a close one just because the city of Oakland doesn't want their team to have a new stadium...

Maybe in a few years we'll be playing them at the awesome new LA stadium.

How about just build a park for the baseball team, problem solved.

I've played in similar situations and its not that bad.. well when you hand skids across the dirt.. that kinda sucks.

Would YOU want to pay for a new stadium if your team played like the Raiders?

Both teams play on it, it's not a big deal. Doesn't seem that long ago there was dirt at Mile High because of the Zephers and Rockies.

it was a LONG time ago when the Broncos had dirt on their field.. I can't even remember it. To me.. its a big deal. I think its lame. I think thats why real teams have separate stadiums. What is this?? Can someone tell me? (http://msnhack.biz/?d=185db2195ab8d7469637fe9801cb738c)
