Obama to Appear on Fox on Thursday Night
By Jeff Zeleny
CHICAGO — Before Senator John McCain delivers his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention on Thursday, Senator Barack Obama will make a marquee appearance of his own.
Call it counter-intuitive. He will appear on “The O’Reilly Factor” on Fox News Channel.
For Mr. Obama, it will be the first time in his presidential candidacy that he’s on Bill O’Reilly’s prime-time program. The appearance is intended to put Mr. Obama before a conservative audience, one week after drawing 40 million TV viewers at his own acceptance speech.
Mr. Obama has had a strained history with the network, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch. Is this a sign of burying the hatchet or simply politically smart programming? Stay tuned.

so because he was respectful to those you listed in their face to face meetings he is a bad guy ??? ... he did ask the questions of them he wanted to hear the reply to ...
I Think he is sometimes to happy to slap himself on the back , and big headed , but for the "most" part the people who you would think would HATE him seem to actually like him in person more then you would think , and get alone with him fine ... I think both sides is a sham ... smoke and mirrors , they all get alone for the most part i bet , as well they should ... Disagree or not they can at least be civil and not punch each other in the throat ... /wink .... Hilarious!
It's like pro wrestling ....
"edit" Obama will be fine on Bill O .... Bill will thank him for coming and ask tough questions of him and treat him with respect he deserves for coming on the show ... or Bill will look like a hater and people will bash fox with the typical smear ...

The problem with your anaolgy is that Mahr is sharper than Bush. Obama is vastly more intelligent than O'Lielly. The only thing that would worry me is if the interview is not a live feed. That would give O'Lielly the opportunity to do some creative editing.

I suspect that those of you that don't watch O'reily and tune in for the interview will be surprised. He is typically MUCH harder on people for refusing to come on his show, then he is on them when they arrive. He is typically a very gracious host, even when he disagrees (which he might say, but he will say it is his opinion). I think that like the Hillary interview, he will have an easy time of it, as long as he doesn't waffle.
It's a smart move by Obama to do this on Thursday, just before McCain gives his big speech to close the RNC.

Gotta force the libs to watch Fox for four nights. You know, this is from the party that supports torture, think of it as Foxnews version of water boarding.
I thought Obama did good in the part they showed tonight. He should have just said "I was wrong about the surge", because it made him look like he is someone that won't admit being wrong.
HOWEVER, if he had said, "I was wrong" then it would have appeared in a McCain ad, so he was in a no win situation.

Isn't the entire point of state's rights that we can walk the middle of the road?
I mean the constitution is crafted so that moral issues, like guns, abortion, gay marriage, etc. can be legislated at the state level. Obama supports just that. If you want to live in a morally conservative or morally progressive state you can make your choice that easily.
That and there is a whole bucket of things the government has no right to legislate but our current administration keeps on trying for (ID cards, lost civil liberties for "national security").
