I say the percentages are at like 50 percent she's gone by next week. They will say something about commitment to family blah blah....
Thoughts?

Nope. The Radical Right is slathering all over this pick. They've sent in $7 million over the internets so far to the McCain campaign. She's in for the long-haul, warts and all. This was one of the supreme sell-out picks of all time. In fact, McCain is becoming the poster boy of the sell-out.

I just read a poll that stated 60 percent of Americans think she should drop out. Plus, she hasnt helped McCain's numbers at all (the dems have enjoyed a boost sicne the DNC) though we should wait till after the RNC. I think this might be more than they bargained for.

Wonder if this $7 million is imaginary like the $10 million Clinton supposed got in one day during the primaries?

I don't know but if they dump this VP they might as well kiss the Radical Right fundamentalist vote, ie. the base, goodbye. It's like being caught in a sticker bush. It hurts just as much trying to get out of it as it hurt getting into it. Ha!

That doesn't surprise me, but since when do the rethugs give a sh*t about what the majority think?
Odds are they will succeed in making troopergate go away just like they've thwarted every other investigation into Republican wrongdoing these past eight years.
And the snake handlers and gun nuts will look the other way (or sympathize with Caribou Barbie even more because those nasty, godless libruls are pickin' on her.)

John McCain was scheduled to do in interview today on CNN with Wolf Blitzer. At the last moment he cancelled the interview because of how hard Cameron Brown was on one of his campaign staff and the manner in how her questions were posed.

For one, changing horses in mid-stream would be tantamount to admitting they made a mistake - and everyone knows Republicans don't do that.
Second, as long as the right-wing media keeps enough live video of Palin speaking in tongues and praising Jay-sus in heavy rotation, the evangelical base will overlook troopergate and babygate (and even try to turn the whole mess around on the nasty, godless liberals who are gratuitously persecuting such an exemplary Christian soldier.)

I doubt it. A lot of Republicans (including myself) were already queasy about the possibility of McCain. Palin can only help him, as it shows the public that the Republicans can play this game of "historic firsts" as well.

I find it odd that so much media attention has been paid to Palin and her daughter, while the same media paid zero attention to Obama and his affiliation with a racist, anti American pastor.
Does America really want to put the most important job on Earth into the hands of a guy that has as much experience governing people as I do?

It actually didn't get much airtime at all. I heard a little on Howard Stern, but not too much elsewhere. Just from the right wing talking heads...not from actual news sources.
The question is...why are we hearing about this rather than the amazing success in Iraq recently?
I'll answer that one...because it doesn't help Obama to talk about success in Iraq. It does however help Obam to talk about Sarah Palin's daughter and how Sarah Palin is a bad mother.

Extremely popular in Texas?
Now there's a litmus test. Ha!
A Satan/Charles Manson ticket would be popular in Texas - as long as it was a republican ticket.
You're wasting your time LABF. Stugots gets his talking points from the RNC fax line so if the RNC isn't pounding away at it specifically he doesn't pay attention.
Hence missing the near 24 hour coverage Rev. Wright received for about two weeks, and the regular updates over a month after that. They were part of the Democratic primary and were found to have no traction.

Hey, it's time for Sarah to put on her big girl pants and run the race. Granted, if the Repubs had been the attack dogs, the Dems would be pi$$ing and moaning just the same. She wants Hilary's supporters, then she'd better show the savvy and strength that Hilary showed in this thing. Obama absolutely battered Hilary and he'll do the same thing to Palin. The question is whether McCain is smart enough to deal with it and whether Palin is strong enough to play in the big leagues. Is it repulsive what they're coming up with? Of course--it's desperation but it's how they do things on the big stage, so we'll see how Palin stacks up (or doesn't).

This is true.
Either Palin shows up as a tough-minded woman with dogged determination or she crumbles under the pressure.
I think that this is where Obama's campaign is setting themselves up for failure.
If Palin shows well and her interaction with the press is unwavering, the press will have to come of of the gas a little. Every woman in the country is watching Palin now. The press doesnt want to alienate its viewers/readers. Eventually they will have to provide some sort of positive spin to continue to get a slice of the ratings pie.

The Reverend Wright news cycle went on for WEEKS, and the media Kept it being an issue long after it stopped being really relevant. Obama had to address it and he did, both with his speech and also finally leaving that church after Wright kept making those inflammatory statements.
Palin has been in the news for 5 days. Your going to hear a lot more about Palin before this settles down.
Frankly , I don't care about her daughter being pregnant, or what that says about Palins Values or mothering capabilities. Many families deal with that issue and it is a private matter. Obama has even said that is out of bounds.
I'd be more concerned about the investigation into her possibly abusing her power of office to settle personal grudges against her ex brother-in-law. The results of that investigation are going to be in the news for a while too, so get used to it.

You are 33 now; 25 when Bush took over. Of course most of the folks you know are going to make more now than when they were pretty much fresh out of school, single and not making much money. From 25-35 or so is when the biggest jumps in salary occur, even in a bad market. After that, it starts to level off considerably, and for the majority of the middle aged and older crowd the last 8 years, has not come close to keeping pace with inflation.
You'd have to be blind to not see that a very significant portion of the country is worse off now than before Bush took over.

Good post Bean. I'm not hurting, but I can say, business is brutal (Dog eat Dog). We used to have 4-5 General contractors bidding on projects, now we see 12-20 at the bidding table. That slashes the profit margins which affects the pay and bonuses of all of our employees, while the cost of EVERYTHING is rising.
