Looks like Eddie Royal is going to be relied upon heavily in the first game for the broncos. It is his first game in the NFL and he will be a starting WR.
What is everyone's take on what his impact will be on the game including stats?
Will he or Jackson have a better game?

I think Cutler is going to spread the love in that game, and Young and Hall will be pounded all day. I don't really expect any WR to have more than 5 receptions and unless someone breaks a long one, nobody should have more than 50 yards.
I think his main impact will be to keep the short stuff open for our tight ends and Stokley. My guess for stats is something like 4 receptions for 39 yards and 1 rush for 19 yards.

TE's will be thrown to the most with Royal being clutch on 3rd down... Cutler should have all day to throw

I drafted B-Marsh in one of my FF leagues, and I added Eddie Royal to fill in for him during his suspension. I think he can net 50 yards and a TD in his debut. Oakland has a tough secondary, but I have a good feeling about it

Figure he might get a few catches, hopefully one or two of them being big, behind the defense plays. However, in general they have supposedly been working with Cutler to not go for the big play after every snap, but to take the underneath stuff, so don't be surprised to see lots of balls to the TE's and RB's, especially in the first game with Marshall out.

Probably be exactly what the faid is expecting. Light up the Royal flush with an 80 yd bomb with the first play. ^5

He's touted as the deep threat.
Out of the gate, I'd run him deep with a couple of hitch moves just to get them thinking deep. Maybe even send a bomb his way.
Then I light them up with underneath stuff and let him work his return skills with only a couple of guys to beat.
Most of all, I'd like to see him catch the winning touchdown.

I have a feeling that week 1 will be a whole lot of rushing and TE passes. If any of the WR's shine, my guess is that it will be Stokely out of the slot. I've seen too much Shanny conservative ball in these type of situations to think otherwise.
Once BMarsh is back though, look out. I just think Shanahan will be pretty conservative in the game because it won't take much to beat the Implosions...er Raiders. Shanny is a 1 WR kind of guy.

I think we'll see a lot of two TE sets with Graham, Jackson and Scheffler. Factor in Hillis' ability as a receiver and it's not impossible think that our passing game won't be set back too terribly.

1. Royal (my leage gives points for every 20 return yards and return touchdowns as well)
2. Stallworth
3. Mendenhal to the flex spot and Ward to the reciever spot.

I want to see DEN pass against DeAngelo Hall. That means whoever plays SE is going to get some serious opportunity in that game. I wonder who will be the Flanker DJax or Eddie Royal? Playing against Asomugha is not going to make them very productive.
The LB's are pretty good in coverage in OAK so the TE's and RB's are not going to have many easy opportunities in the passing game.
All I can say is it's 56 hours until real football starts!

The way to beat Oakland is to run on them. Burgess is not a good run stopping end, their linebackers are cover guys more than hard hitting run stoppers. Both their cornerbacks play relatively soft against the run and Michael Huff is pretty soft too.
I would like to see us challenge Hall with a steady dose of outs, slants and a few double moves because he does play the ball quite aggressively and will try to jump routes.
Other than that I think we will see a lot of Tony Scheffler splitting out wide and taking those stay routes when he gets matched up with a linebacker or having him go over the middle when he catches a cornerback.
Shanahan will figure something out fr Greasy Al.

Wow, first game for Royal, first game for our new LT Clady...I'm not expecting the offense to really get it together until mid season, if they do at all this year. I think Cutler's going to have some Vandy flashbacks this season. Outside of him and Marshall, we have no proven players in my book, especially if Nalen can't go.
Running back by committee S-U-C-K-S.
Scheff is running third string behind Nate Jackson, a guy we seem to cut at least once every year. WTF? If you can't beat out a journeyman playing out of position in your third year...what does that say?
So we have three rookies starting, Royal Clady and Hillis

I just think the O, especially the line, will need time to put it all together. Yes, they are revamped, but they aren't going to start playing at 100%
Clady is brand new. both to the scheme and NFL. Hamilton played center all last year, Nalen (by far our best and most important lineman) looks like he'll be out for a while, bringing another brand new face into the mix, Kuper played tackle last year, and Harris is only in his second year.
Our O-line, more so that probably any other blocking scheme in the NFL, requires every linemen to work together in a carefully orchestrated fat man ballet...and you don't get the required synchronization until you've played together for a while. Eight games is an aggressive prediction.
Not that I think that we don't have the pieces...but the line is just raw right now. And if they can't open holes for the run game, it's all going to be put on Jay.
How many mistakes does a rookie LT make, playing against the best pass rushers in the NFL week in and week out? I think Clady will pan out, but he's got to learn...and Jay is going to pay the price for almost every lesson.

That can't be right. I swear we used to swap out him and Charlie Adams for another kicker/punter almost every week there for a while. I could be wrong, but in any case, I don't like Jackson, and don't have any faith in him. Glad to hear Scheff is playing ahead of him.

Naw because Clady is to our offense what Joe Thomas was for the Browns.
And he ran a similar if not the same scheme in college.......Probably the reason why he picked everything up so fast....
Seen Cutler take any big shots this pre season? And Clady went up against some big time pass rushers in Mario Williams, Demarcus Ware, Kampman.....
Our OL is moving as a unit out there and thats scary.

I would love us to play some serious no huddle this year, especially against smaller defenses like Oakland. Let Clady use his size (the man is HUGE) to dominate some tired defensive ends. I think Cutler can handle it too, he is getting a pretty good grasp of the playbook.
We really should run the k-gun offense in the second half of the season, we have so many great recievers and Cutler is really good at drawing up a play in the sand and finding an open guy. I could imagine Cutler and Marshall doing what he used to do with Bennett, just find the open spot, sit down and wait for a high ball nobody else is going to come close to and then you know who wins those 1 on 1's with cornerbacks.
