'Bama is cleaning their clocks and they're not even the best team in their conference.

How did Clemson get enough votes to be ranked ninth?

They're actually better then they're playing. They just returned a kick for a touch with a half to play so they could still pull this out of the fire, but as I said before, the lesson today is that the SEC is better than the other conferences.

Spiller just had a great return but I suspect that Bronco Inferno still needs someone to get him down from the ledge.

I think this is more of a sign of how TERRIBLE the ACC is.
Not that the SEC isn't the best but jesus what a ridiculous showing. And then the way VTech played?
Yuck.

The score doesn't even indicate how badly we lost yesterday. The offense did absolutely nothing for a variety of reasons. Keep in mind we are all freshmen. We had too many seniors and we were missing our best corner. We lost our CB Brandon Flowers, MLB Xavier Adibi, OLB Vince Hall, DT Carlton Powell, WR Eddie Royal, WR Josh Morgan, WR David Clowney, RB Brandon Ore, DE Chris Ellis, FS Parker, LT Duane Brown, DT Barry Booker, WR Justin Harper. These guys were our best players. Heck, Duane Brown is the Texan starting left tackle. We're young.
Having said all that...
ECU's QB was awesome and very accurate. We couldn't get to him and he fired bullets.

Well if nothing else, it's a good example of why preseason rankings are worthless.

I guess. Never was a big deal to me.

SEC is normally better than every conference, but this year I think the Big 12 is right there with them. Probably not better but the SEC wouldn't just run away with things like they normally do.
I also think after the first 4 teams in the SEC you get into a big overrated category of teams. Just because they are in the SEC they are automatically called tough but Im not buying.
Clemson isnt as good as advertised, but neither is 'Bama.
Georgia IS however, as good as advertised and worthy of the #1 ranking they have.
OU, Mizzou, Texas, KU and Texas Tech could run with the top 5 in the SEC. Too bad CU and NU still suck and A&M has fallen, they need to get things turned around while KU and Mizzou are still riding high. Then the Big 12 will really be a contender for the best conference in America. That would be 8 of 12 teams that would be pretty good.
Hopefully for the conference's sake, KU and Mizzou can keep their winning ways going. If you get a rebound of NU, CU and KSU plus getting A&M back to being a team no one wants to play, throw in a good year from OSU and really you only have the two schlubs in ISU and Baylor sucking wind in the conference.
As much as I hate Mizzou, they looked pretty damn good against Illinois yesterday.

Hard to say at this point. Is UT just that bad or is UCLA actually better then people think. Before yesterday game I would have felt pretty confident in saying that UCLA would be in a war to just even make a bowl game this year but now I'm not so sure. I still don't think they will finish much higher then 4th or 5th in the Pac 10 this year but they definitely look better then I originally thought.

That should read..."As much as I hat Mizzou, thier offense looked pretty damn good against Illinois yesterday."
That defense is still the same "swiss cheese" style they had last year. They made Juice Williams look like Tom Brady.

We have more freshman than you can shake a stick at. I mean it's not like EUC didn't just destroy the number 9 ranked team in the country. This is going to be a down year for the Hokies based on their play so far, but after seeing WVU get killed, it does make me feel better.

Well. To answer your question: Yes it is my excuse. :)
But the ECU QB is looking awesome. He should be the front runner for the Heisman.
