Probably heading to Chicago. BTW, if you can't beat out Orton and Grossman you can't play in this league PERIOD.

I agree, Simms will take Caleb Hanie's current roster spot w/da Bears.

I know Ramsey seems like a mortal lock at this point but I wouldnt mind Simms. He's probably looking to start though.

:spit: So looks like Gruden is only keeping 8 QB's this year

I think many would agree that Simms would be an upgrade over Ramsey--but he would not be happy being Jay's understudy when there are starting opportunites like in CHI.....

Wow, he would be a lot better of a backup than what we got now

Simms and Ramsey are the same person. Actually, Simms is much less athletic with a weaker arm. Watched him play while at UT, and never thought much of him. Applewhite (who? exactly) was a better QB.

I would crown his ass if I were in charge of Da Bears.

I believe and I may be wrong on the school but Major Applewhite is the Offensive Coordinator at Alabama.

EDIT:

He is back at UT as a coach but was OC under Saban at Alabama.

I say sign him. Smart and an accurate passer.

The Bucs really should have cut him months ago. Guy could have had a legitimate shot at competing to start somewhere. There are plenty of teams that had/have big questions at QB.

It'd be hard for him to come in and learn a playbook/system at this late stage in the game.

I actually thought he'd be the long term starter for the Bucs - once upon a time.

why the bears don't have Culpepper or Simms in for talks is plain stupid.

Shanahan likes Ramsey because of his arm strength. I guess accuracy is a little less of a priority, and time holding on to the ball..

Simms would be a big upgrade, but you can forget it. Shanahan has Ramsey on the brain.

The biggest thing is how he is mentoring Cutler....that is why he is on the roster...

The 2nd QB on the Broncos is here to help Cutler. He is here to support Jay and give him advice so he can learn faster. Harrington, Simms or Hackney will not do as good a job as what Ramsey will do. END OF STORY. Get over it.

Ramsey is a lock for the team not for what he has done on the field, but for how well he has bonded with Jay and helped him along.

Simms has the tools.

Just doesnt fit Grudens system.

Ramsey only has a whopping 24 career starts even though he's been around since 2002.

Because everytime he got in the game he was trash.....

Same thing were seeing with the Broncos.

Yea, that could have been part of it... but Ramsey just has no clock, either. He's got zero pocket awareness. He's just a deer in the headlights on every snap.

It's really a total mystery what Shanahan sees in this guy, but he's really never really cared much about the back-up position.

Thank you. Can we just agree that he was a QB from Tulane that was overdrafted and will never have what it takes to be a starting QB in the NFL? Seriously I love how Spurrier gets blamed for everything wrong with Ramsey. Like somehow another coach could have turned him into Peyton Manning and Ramsey has deep psychological wounds that will never be undone from the evil Spurrier. Spurrier is as much a victim of Ramsey as the other way around.

If Gruden would rather hold on to Griese as a backup than Simms that should say something about his lvl of talent.

correct on this one. That guy was a total gamer and stuck it out before heading to have surgery. You think this would score points with Chucky but I guess being put as a 4th QB is writing on the wall. They jerked him big time. I hope he has a chance to play but with the season starting this week, I doubt it.

It's simple, you don't help a rookie by going with 5 wide on most plays and leave no protection for him on 7 step drops....

Do I think Ramsey would be an all pro if this was changed? No, but I do think he wouldn't be as poor in the pocket.

The reason Ramsay stays on this team is because he is reportedly an amazing game tape watcher. I am trying to find an article where Shanny says it but local news guys have said as much. It doesn't translate to the field but he helps Cutler with film work and such.
