Amendment: 95% of the time he sucks.

He may suck, but he's still better than Croyle. At this point the chefs should think about trade a 5th round pick to the Broncos for Hackney.

Honestly. Who has played better this preseason. Ramsey or Hackney?

Hackney deserves a shot. Somewhere.

Popps
08-29-2008, 11:14 PM
I've only watched the first quarter and change... but Hackney already looks better than anything I've seen from Ramsey, which isn't saying anything. He's fairly elusive, sold the play-action well and can get out and run a little. That's at least ONE dimension to his game... while Ramsey seems to have a game that features NO dimensions.

Popps
08-29-2008, 11:15 PM
Ramsey must be one of these Engleberger-types. Says/does the right things in practice and gives Shanny wood.

Hackney > Ramsey

Amendment: 95% of the time he sucks.

He completed 63% on the preseason with no INTs. So wouldn't that mean he only sucked 37% of the time? :ouwknow:

Hackney still needs some work but I like him better than Ramsey.

I don't see what anyone sees in hackney. He takes too long to find his receiver and panics way too easily. he has a great arm, but its not all that accurate. At the first sign of trouble he looks to run. Sure, he's made some nice plays in spurts, but anyone with an entire game should. I just dont see what you guys are seeing.

He's better than Ramsey...give Pep a call...

ScottXray
08-30-2008, 12:36 AM
I was hating on Ramsey..but Hackney did not look all that great.

He does look to run before he needs to. And he didn't have the vision to see his receivers..helll he has to JUMP to complete a dump over the line.

He's a good athlete...but not a great QB.

Hackney has played better. I dont get what they see in Ramsey. I know Cutler likes Ramsey but Im not sure Cutler should be picking the back up. Hackney has played better than Ramsey and also if put into a game situation, Hackney actually has some mobility. So if a play breaks down, Hackney still gives us a chance whereas I get the feeling Ramsey will go to the fetal position.

It really sucks because I like the signing of Ramsey to be a back up, but it really seems like he has regressed since coming here. He seems more and more overwhelmed.

Looks like he wont be a starter for anyone anytime soon

Jarious Jackson 2.0? Big arm, great athlete and a knuckle head.

He at least looks athletic and confident. He's a back-up, no doubt... but Ramsey just drops back, looks frightened and then lobs the ball into coverage or takes a sack on every play.

There's no question in my mind we'd have a better chance surviving a game without Cutler using Hackney than Ramsey at this stage.

What I saw from Hackney last night was a lot of rawness but he showed some great poise all night long. He didn't seem scared and while his accuracy isn't that great, it isn't as bad as people have pointed out. 63% is not too bad. And the strike 87 yard TD was about as accurate as you can throw the ball with defenders in your face and with your feet not planted.

Yes, he looks to run too soon, yes he needs work, but I think this guy would be a better option in a pinch than Ramsey. Ramsey = punt. Hackney = a chance to not pun. This is part of the rawness that I saw out of Hackney. But he also showed some ability to do things when the play goes awry. Ramsey has NEVER shown that ability.

I dont particularly care for the idea of either of these guys being the primary backup, but if i had to choose I'd take Hackney.

What i saw from Hackney is the same thing i see from Ramsey.......

Both of them suck horribly.

Not sure what the hell some of you saw in that game last night - but i'd take Hackney over that bum Ramsey without question.

Some of you are kidding right? Ramsey is absolutely horrid, i'm not even sure how he still has a uniform.

CasinoRoyal

Hackney made some plays......

But dude cant see over the OL alot when he drops back.

Thas why you always see him drop back and then shoot to the left or the right.

Guys could be running open but he cant see over the line.

If Hackney was 6'3 he would have been drafted though he has a good arm....But so does Ramsey

Hackney has performed better than Ramsey--case closed----look at the stats and look at the points scored when he has QB'd the team. While his height would be an issue, we can dust off the Jake Plummer playbook for Hackney. He is more mobile, has similar arm strength and quite simply has a better feel in the pocket than does Ramsey. Ramsey has height, starting experience and supposedly intelligence....and shanahan supposedly likes his mentoring abilities with Jay. If it was based off of preseason play--Ramsey would be gone.

CasinoRoyal

We only used 20% of the playbook for Plummer.....

Leave that **** in the shed.

It's true, he cannot see over the line and because of that, he panics in the pocket. That's why, even though it was a preseason game last night, they boot-legged him the etire game. You have to get a guy like that to the outside or he's entirely useless.

For all you Hackney defenders out there, take a look at each of his preseason games and you'll see that he throws to the sidelines or the RB's 90% of the time. The only way he can hit a wideout in the middle of the field is if he somehow steps out of the pocket and gets clear vision down the field...ala the colbert TD.

I understand the kid has a strong arm and a big heart, but he's not NFL caliber. I really hope we end this experiment after this season and bring in a young kid with some all around talent.

Good luck to Hackney in the Arena Football League or in Canada or whereever an average player has a chance.

Yeah passes over the middle is not an option for dude from the pocket...

And i grew tired of the Plummer experiment.

See how much smoother the offense runs with a pocket passer?

My god im McLuvin it.

He young player that needs to follow the Seneca Wallace type of development ( a couple of years as 3rd string and move up to 2nd). He will never be full time starter, but he could give a team some nice starts to help if starter goes out for a game or two.
