Brandon Marshall's suspension has been reduced one game by the NFL.
Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall is getting a reprieve from the NFL. But it's going to cost him.

After hearing Marshall's side, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has reduced the receiver's two- to three-game suspension for violation the league's personal-conduct policy to one game, the Broncos' season opener at Oakland on Sept. 8, an NFL source has told the Rocky Mountain News. However, the league has fined Marshall one game's pay, $26,178, plus he will lose that amount for sitting out the Raiders game.

An announcement is expected Friday.

NFL officials hear Marshall's appeal in New York on Tuesday. He originally was to be suspended for three games, with the option of a one-game reduction he complied with league guidelines during the suspension.

Marshall was arrested three times in a little more than a year. The league also examined several transcripts of 911 calls made to police to request assistance at his Douglas County home, though most of those incidents were classified as minor and only one resulted in an arrest. Charges from that particular arrest were later dropped.

I do think that Goodell is going a tad overboard with the amount of suspensions, but do understand the cause for concern. He doesn't want the image of a football player to be a "thug". However, suspending someone for what amounts to nothing is fricken ridiculous.

Get real, there is no "Anti-Marshall" crowd...some (including me) were more upset than others apparently that his actions caused a suspension that hurt the team's chances to win games. I still fail to see how that is so very hard to understand.

In any event, the suspension has been reduced to one game against the Raiders...a game that the Broncos can likely win without him, and he'll be in the ranks and contributing against the Chargers....a game where it's essential the Broncos have all hands on deck to have a chance. It's great news for the team anyway you wanna slice it, even for us who don't blatently worship him......hard to believe I know ::)
