View Full Version : Bronco Nailed for Scalping Tickets

To the Democratic National Convention, that is. As per that paragon of journalism, www.profootballtalk.com.... The player is not identified in the story, unfortunately....
http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/08/23/bronco-player-gets-nailed-for-selling-obama-tickets/
On August 28, Senator Barack Obama will deliver his acceptance speech at Mile High Stadium in Denver. Broncos players were given free tickets to the event.
The players were told that, if they don’t use the tickets, they could give them to immediate family members only.
So, of course, one of them tried to sell his tickets on ebay. And was caught.
We’re not sure whether the Broncos will even be in town on Thursday night. They play the Cardinals on Friday night, and most teams head to the site of a game the night before the scheduled kickoff. Since the game isn’t due to begin until 8:00 p.m. local time on Friday, maybe the Broncos won’t fly out until the morning.

I can't imagine another group of people who have less interest in politics. I just guessing that most of them, even those getting league minimum, aren't concerned about:
a) the economy
b) health care
c) the war or warlike intrege
d) loss of freedoms
e) whatever
I'm thinking back to myself at 22-30 and I wasn't highly motivated...as long as there was beer and women and something to do inbetween.

As a guy who's opposed to on-season mode, I will say that the single greatest thing about it is that every time some self-righteous, blathering political know-nothing starts puking up rhetoric about their preferred candidate... that **** gets kicked to the sub-forums.
To me, there's no single thing on earth that makes a person appear more stupid than them pushing their religion or politics on people in a public forum not solely dedicated to those topics.

Sex is important, too... and I don't want to hear about any of your sex lives.
People don't want real political discourse, 99% of the time. They want you to hear their opinion and ignore yours, particularly in a place like this.
There ARE places to seek out real political discourse. This is not one of them, and in general... public forums aren't.
But, that's just me. I'm impressed with people who go out and work campaigns, visit schools, give lectures, attend town hall meetings, etc.
Some chump puking out drivel about hating Bush or Obama on a football forum is just silly and counterproductive.

Now, in all seriousness... I understand that there is a lot of nasty stuff going around in Denver right now. I have two friends that work in law enforcement around Denver that are pretty much freaked about what is going to go down. They are already finding "scary and nasty stuff" left behind in hidden places. They didn't elaborate much, but did say that they're briefed daily on new issues and concerns. The police riot in Chicago (68 I believe) is also a regular topic. Keep the city and their employees in your prayers (or thoughts) they may be tested very soon.

No doubt about it. I can tell you first hand that in Colorado you'll only find a handful of citizens at our capital talking to legislators. Everyone else there is paid lobbyist. They fill the capital like cockroaches.
It's much easier for people to sit on messageboards and complain about politics then actually getting involved though.
I really don't think most people realize they can just waltz right into their Capital building and speak their mind to their Senate or House of Reps though unfortunately.

Now lets look at McCain. He has the potential to totally screw up the US. He admits he barely knows anything about economics. He wants to widen the war on terror. Now if he actually wins the election and picks a guy who knows about economics and who is not a freaking war hawk, yes I hope he dies sooner than later. I'm sure God aka John Elway will sell his box seats and in turn use that money to donate to the McCain campaign.
I will make it a point to label all jokes in the future for those who have a hard time "reading between the lines".
I really don't give a flying **** who sold their tix, but must say they are not too f-ing bright considering the implications.

He has nothing better to do than spending his days on this message board ranting about various topics. It's not like he has kids he should be paying attention to or anything...
Oh wait.
Poor guy, still obsessed with me, huh? You're honestly making your way to the top of my fan-club.
I also love your repeated use of the concept that I'm stupid because I post on a message board... yet you're behind me 24/7, hanging on my every post... trying to get me to pay attention to you.
Who's stupid, again?
Also... a little heads up, I realize you have no class and are operating with a limited IQ, but your digs at people's families aren't going to get you far around here. In fact, it'll get you banned.
Funny, though. Pretty much the last gasp of the message board pussy who's had his ass kicked all over the board.... start talking about people's family.

Hi, TailgateNut, I didn't leave you a "PM." It was a rep.
This is also from the front page:
"On-Season" Mode starts August 9th...
It's just about that time of year again...
For those new to how we do things here, during "On-Season" mode the main forum turns into NFL Football related topics only, with a few exceptions for major events (sports and life) and important community notices (like the birth of kids, and major life announcements from our Broncos brothers and sisters).
Enjoy the off topics here while you can. On August 9th, the Broncos travel to Houston to play Kubiak's Texans, and at that time, it's full steam ahead with "On Season Mode."
The guy who owns the site wrote that.
Furthermore, the thread was moved... indicating it was indeed in the wrong area.
Anything else?
