The reason Chet Edwards' name is all-of-the-sudden in consideration is that the Democrats had already printed millions of "Obama/Edwards '08" bumper stickers before the John Edwards affair broke onto the news channels and the Dems are too cheap to print new ones.

It's the only rationale I can think of for putting Chet Edwards on the short list. He's about as far right as you can get and still be a Democrat. There's no chance he'll carry his home state. He's not a stirring speaker. The Nutroots are going to slam the choice. The feminazis are going to hate it. If he adds any gravitas to the ticket, it will only illustrate how little experience Obama has.
Then again, after claiming yesterday that China is "vastly superior" to the United States, maybe Obama desperately needs somebody on the ticket who is not ashamed of his country. For balance, you know.

It's the only rationale I can think of ...
In that case, thinking may not be your "thing"...

I have no doubt you wouldn't post such a claim without a link. Right?

"Everybody’s watching what’s going on in Beijing right now with the Olympics. Think about the amount of money that China has spent on infrastructure. Their ports, their train systems, their airports are vastly the superior to us now, which means if you are a corporation deciding where to do business you’re starting to think, “Beijing looks like a pretty good option.”
I've always said Democrats are closet communists. It looks like Obama's communism is right out there in the open. His idea of a "vastly superior" society is one where slave labor and child labor, one-child-per-couple, political suppression and environmental exploitation.
Just as Obama's communist mentor, Frank Marshall Davis (http://www.aim.org/aim-column/obamas-communist-mentor/) taught him.

the only difference between Repubs and Demos are which group of old guys tell us what we can and can't do.

Where in this did Obama say the Chinese had a vastly superior society?
Where in this did Obama say he favors slave labor, one child per couple,
political suppression (George W Bush, anyone?) or environmental exploitation.
All he said was the Chinese had better ports and railroads. Do you dispute this?

This isn't just about infrastructure. He's saying business would find China more attractive than the U.S. - That means the entire package is more favorable, including slave labor, political suppression, lax environmental standards and lax building codes - things which would not be possible in the United States. And why are they not possible in the United States? Because we have laws against those things. Why is it possible in Beijing? Because of the totalitarian society.
Gotta think beyond what he is saying to the thinking behind it.
All he said was the Chinese had better ports and railroads. Do you dispute this?
Who can say? How is a totalitarian government going to give you an accurate look at what their infrastructure is like? To westerners, what they see is tightly controlled, just as it is with the Olympics.
Still, that doesn't keep Obama from claiming they are "vastly superior". Where is HIS proof?
But, if nothing else, it is just one more example of Obama tearing down this country. He claims he loves this country but his words betray him.

And Ms Obama is proud that the US has inferior infrastructure. Under Barry Obama, poor infrastructure will be reorganized under the central or proletariat government. This is a proud moment, because Barry Obama doesn't believe patriotism is having reverance for your country, but is having vision to improve it. Sen Obama gained valuable experience in these matters, when he used friends in the political fundraising communitty to finance his $1M home. Now that he is expanding globaly, new friends in places like Russia, Iran, Syria, and China will help him finance a mortgage for the United States. That way everyone will live in a $1M house and not have to worry about paying a mortgage.

Only a Rightard has the ability to sail off into the hyperspace of bloviation that this post represents. It's an art form, really. Gee, we might remember that the last president who really invested in our infrastructure actually put this country on the tracks of an amazing economic boom. That was Ike. I guess the Rightards would rather we spend more of our resources removing American bodies from beneath collapsed bridges? Or perhaps we could turn our infrastructure decisions over to private industry. You know. Like we did in Iraq.
After all, private industry always does a better job.
