Saddleback Debate: McCain Shows a Little Competency, Obama Mutters and Stumbles

I didnt see a topic posted on this here, so here it is.

I was surprised at the debate. Obama had proven to be such an eloquent speaker with such well-written monologues that you kind of take for granted the idea that he doesnt write his material. He is an excellent performer.

Really, what I expected from Obama was a well-reasoned and evenly-meted set of responses that made sense. Instead, he gave us mubled-jumbled-garbled lawyer speak that was reluctantly laid forth in retreat.

I guess that he made a wise decision when he denied McCain's proposal of Town Square debates. A couple more of these unpresidential showings and you could pack up Obamas show and send it back to Chicago.

McCain on the other hand seemed very comfortable, affable, succint, and certain of what he believed in. A stark contrast to the jumbled waffling of Obama.

I recommend watching this talk to anyone who hasnt seen it. More is revealed in them than any other forum to hit the public domain thus far.

Yep, Obama needs to start having convictions and stop trying to not "offend" anyone who might consider voting for him or else the Dems will have 4 more years to complain the election was stolen from them. The more pressure that seems to be applied to Barry the less "seasoned" he looks.

I'm still trying to figure out how Obama being a stuttering fool can be because McCain "cheated". That tactic never would have worked on JFK. It wouldn't have worked on Billy Boy Clinton. They would have simply made a coherent off-the-cuff answer that sounded good even if was total bs. The fact that Obama can't think on his feet is not McCain's fault. He couldn't have made Obama into a waffling idiot, cone or no cone. Only Obama could do that to himself by not being prepared and/or not being able to speak from conviction.

Well, that's the rub.

McCain isnt a magician. He didnt confound Obama into speaking as poorly as he did. It was probably the worst performance I have seen from a serious politician in my lifetime.

It was a matter of being familiar with common subjects, and having dealt with them in some fashion in public office or private industry enough to have a basic working knowledge.

Obama just didnt cut it. He looked like a backpedaling amateur.

It was the best I've ever seen him ... at least in the last 8 years. He was cool, seemed thoughtful and unruffled, spoke in complete sentences. It was so out of character for him this past year, and the unflappable mentality so much in line with what he would have had with foreknowledge of the questions, that I feel certain he cheated. Although to be honest ... it's not exactly against the law or anything, it was stupid Rick Warren who said "cone of silence," he's the one we should lynch ....

But getting beat here by McCain might have been the wake-up call Obama needs to see that Hilary is the surefire ticket to winning this thing. I don't care how she acts or what she and Bill will do ... I want to WIN.

Barry had no prompter in front of his face telling him what bullet point he should talk about next so he had to stammer his way around the questions to try and sound genuine. It's just that simple. I put the word "cheat" in quotes because apparently, there were no rules posted by Saddleback. It seems Warren said "cone of silence" as a kind of joke or something, because the Church admits it had zero control over McCain and his entourage and their whereabouts. Further, McCain was far too lucid on that stage to have NOT known some of the content in advance ... you see, I've seen him in action these past 12 months, and that was definitely one PREPARED John McCain on that stage.
