Not sure if this has been posted or not, but here is the link. Mike Sando compares some up and coming QBs and Cutler ranks pretty high. Article dates back to December 2007...

Everybody knows he caught a ride on the DLine for that win. He did enough to not lose and not much more. We'll see this year if he actually stepped his game up.

I'm not that impressed with Shanny's pick. There were several people touting him as the best player in the draft... including Mike Mayock and Jeff Fisher. Where I'm impressed is the way Shannahan played that hand. That pick seemingly came out of left field.... yet Shanny had been calculating that trade and pick for months. I think it will wind up being the single best personell move by Shannahan of his career.... which is obviously saying something considering TD and Rod Smith.

I sure as heck hope you're right on this one. I have to say I am really excited to see this kid develop. Its great cause he's definitely becoming a team leader and demanding the best from those around him. I think him and Eddie Royal are going to turn into a great tandem. Wouldn't it be great if 5, 6, 7, 8 years from now Marshall, Royal, and Schef are all still catching balls from Cutler?

During that draft I remember talking with my good friend the 12th man for those who know that guy. And we both agreed that Cutler was the best QB in the draft, and IF we were in need of a QB we should take him.

And about 5 minutes after we discussed that, pick number 12 shows up and Denver had traded with St Louis and Cutler was on the screen. We were both happy we got the best QB in the draft, but also thinking WTF we were just in the AFC Championship game, we needed a RB.

Now a few years later, i no longer question Shannahan because that pick may be the best this franshise has made in the past 10 years
