Ok Begin Rant Now:

NBC has completely ****ed the American Sports fan with their idiotic and completely sh*tty Olympic coverage. I can only imagine how the fans in the Western time zone feel, they have not seen a single Olympic event live this entire week and are watching results that are more than three hours old.

This tape delay is ****ing bs. Last night when Phelps was trying to set the record for gold medals they decided to continue their rebroadcast of the womans marathon and TWO HOURS after he won in the relay fans in the Rocky Mountain got to see it. Part of being a sports fan is to share in the freaking moment of something historic or a game that is important to the individual. Evidently people in the eastern and central time zones are important enough to have live coverage so that they can see it as it happens but the mountain and the west are not. I am so tired of hearing these apologists saying things to the effect of "you cant blame NBC for trying to put their Olympic coverage in prime time". Last night the Phelps race occurred at 10:17 Eastern Time and 10:17 am in Beijing, which mean that it could have been put LIVE at 8:17 in the Mountain Zone, which last time I checked is in prime time. Yet these **** tards CONTINUE to do their goddamn rebroadcast instead of breaking in LIVE so that we can see it as it happens.

Secondly, wtf is up with three minutes of coverage and then five minutes of adds I got so pissed off that I actually started timing it to see how bad it was. 20 minutes of coverage for every 40 minutes of adds, this was the average for the four prime time hours of coverage from 7 to 11.

Third, why in the hell are they showing a damn game between China and England when there are Americans playing in games in the quarters in another sport, this make no ****ing sense since we are in the US for god sakes.

These NBC bastards have ONCE again ****ed the American sports fan and will keep doing it, I am freaking tired of this bs. I should have bought a two weeks subscription to BBC who actually show this stuff live.

Rant End:

Better than ESPiN, maybe. Maybe not. Considering the crap gameshows they trot out now, and the 3/4 of a BILLION dollars they get from 1 ad from an AMATUER sport, it's sad thatr we have to put up with Costas...At least Brian Gumball isnt around.

Also, it's not like ESPN isnt giving out news all the time.

ESPN just said China paid 50 billion to host. I assume thats before the new infrastructure. Where is this money going? it's not to the athetes.

Now you know how the Eastern Time Zone viewers feel when Monday night football doesn't start till 9pm and ends after midnights. Same with the World Series and NBA finals. Christ! Kids on the east coast never get to watch the MLB all star game, or the world series.
I know it's a bit different because the Olympics could air live coverage to all viewers but I just wanted to rub it in a lil more... LOL

The IOC works on a bribe system.

The worst thing NBC did last night was fail to show Bolt's world record 100 live. It sucked knowing who already won in advance.

The 100 yard dash is the marquee event of the entire Olympics. Nothing beats the build up and excitement when the sprinters walk up to the blocks for 10 seconds of glory.

It was 50 Billion counting infrastructure.

To put this in perspective. Athens cost between 1 and 2 billion.

Fortunately we don't have to worry about them getting another shot at the games any time soon. For all the money they've thrown at the games they fell drastically short on a lot of promises such as pollution, human rights, median access, etc. The IOC can't justify another games in China for decades. The only reason they got it before was a lot of money and the fact that they had never hosted a games before.

This is why I am afraid Chi-town will the Olympics. City of Big shoulders and voting early and often...

No it will be Madrid. Juan Antonio Samaranch's son is involved with that bid. JAS will use some pull to get it for Madrid. I hear what youre saying though. While Chicago politics may be epically corrupt, the IOC isnt so clean either and the man behind that machine (JAS)still has influence.

Plus, the IOC is trying to leverage the US to give up their cut of revenue that the US uses to fund the training of their olympic team.

Thats absolutely true but whats sad is that currently a lot of the crusty media types covering the Olympics try to pretend like its the basketball team. Its lazy and its petulant.

1) Can/will dolphins swin in a straight line?

2) It would have to be the freestyle otherwise, since dolphins have no arms, theyd be subject to disqualification.

Why not watch it "live" on the internet?

I'm pissed that I can't find replays of major events outside the US internet network. All you see are photos compilations.

If they're worried about people losing interest after the end of Phelps' work, they can look no further than their failure to sell replay rights.

It's too US centric. No other country does this with their Olympic coverage. I want to watch the Olympics...not just events where Americans have a chance of winning. **** that's lame.

I think every country does it to an extent also, although we do show the marquee events live even tho we basically suck at athletics and swimming with some exceptions.

But then I can get the Olympics live on up to 7 channels at a time and basically just watch what I want and what interests me. The major network shows the marquee events live (swimming, athletics) but they do have other sports on some of their subchannels that can probably be compared to CNBC etc. and then I get the Swiss channel plus Eurosport.
