If you play non-coed sports, it pretty much automatically makes you at least a little gay. Im cool with a little manlove after a good play or victory.

What do you mean not really. He is by far the best athlete ever in the Olympics. Don't be jealous.

Nice...when you put "spoiler" in the thread...when everyone know's he's going for #8 ... ya think that ruins it?

Could have gone either way, Sas. Last night was 1/100th of a second. Just didn't want to give it up in the title for those who wanted to see it for themselves. Made that mistake a couple of years ago when Nicky Hayden won the Moto GP world championship ('06). I posted the win before the folks on the West Coast got to see the race and got called out hard for it, and in retrospect rightly so. Just try not to do that any more. If I got the Broncos two hours before Colorado and posted the score before you got to see the game, would you be pleased?

That's what I'm saying...it did spoil it...because when I read it I knew he won.

If Phelps had lost by 1/100th last night I would have posted Exactly the same thing as a title. Wasn't home last night, or I would have. You had the option of opening it. PERIOD. Did you read my explanation? I don't give it up anymore without just say Subject=Spoiler. Up to you to open it.

No. You don't get it SPOILER tells me he won without looking at the title...yes, it can go either way...but it tells me that he won.

projecting your own thinking on me...seriously, I would have posted exactly the same thing in the title if he had lost.

Either way a tremendous achievement on par with Lance Armstrongs titles.

This is so much more impressive than Spitze (sp) accomplishment because the races are so much more compressed on a time scale.

Mark basically said the same thing in the interview with Costas and Phelps last night. Very gracious talking about not only the rise in other countries competitiveness, + the short time table, but also the unbelievable pressure and time required by the media. My earliest memories of the Olympics were of Mark in '72. Became an Olympics fan for life. What Phelps has done is amazing. It doesn't matter what country he is from, it is just amazing. Aquaman! Greatest Olympian EVER.

Amazing. And he's not done. He'll be back in '12 to pad his totals. This was history though. We may need to wait another 30 years before we see someone try and break this one again.

Does the "(M)" in the title mean "merged"?

Yes.... it indicates that one or more threads dealing with the same topic have been combined.

ummm, you merged his Phelps record thread with the (literally) gay olympic thread?!? Because your sister complained?

Is there anything you people won't cry about?

The most successful ... swimmers have an advantage over the rest because they can compete in a whole lot more races.

Either way a tremendous achievement on par with Lance Armstrongs titles.

I wouldn´t belitte Phelps´ achievement by comparing it to the achievements of a cheater.
