View Full Version : Who left Denver on worse terms(fan perspective)?

Atlas' post about how he feels about John Lynch leaving Denver made me think about this board's reaction to Shannon Sharpe's retirement and the mixed emotions we all shared about it.

So who left on worse terms according to you?

Shannon Sharpe retiring - had to put the retirement part in there casue I'm sure him signing with Baltimore, especially in hindsight, would be the overall winner. But Shannon announced that he was coming back next season, then after the draft was done and free agency all but over, he announces his retirement to take a pregame commentator job.

John Lynch - Shanahan tells him of his diminished role in the defensive schemes, he says he wants to be a full time starter and explore more options elsewhere, then gets released only to sign with the hated Patriots for less money and just about the same amount of playing time.

I know you didn't give me the option, but my least favorite ex-Bronco from the last 5 years is Javon Walker.

That is to say, I think Javon Walker left on the worst terms (underdelivering, blustering, overpriced, defected to rivals, etc.)

Lynch easy. At least Sharpe was true to his word and he retired and had a easy studio gig. Lynch asshole was makin all sorts of excuses just so he could leach on top a team that he percieves as better. **** him. I think the teamamates that he left are probably pissed at him because they feel they have a great chance.

He took less money
he took less playing time
he went to a team that had a better record.

The more I look at this the more I see Denver beating the Pats at least once this year.

I didnt give the option because jackasses like Javon and Eddie Kennison would win this poll by a long shot over guys like Sharpe and Lynch.

A lot of mixed emotions went into Sharpe's retirment, some just thanked him for the years and said good luck with the studio gig while others were pissed because he left us hanging aout to dry at the TE spot after he had given his word that he was coming back.

Same thing with Lynch, some on here said thanks for the time spent here in Denver and will always be known as a class act while others are saying that it was a chicken**** move to pull in order to sign with a Super Bowl contending team.

My punishment for Lynch would that he would have to be a RB and run 12 times right up the middle against a great Safety as Dennis Smith. Then maybe would he realize what he had done.

Shannon Sharp.

He would have contributed A LOT that season. He left after the draft which hindered the Broncos to find a suitable replacement.

I like Sharp, but wish it was done earlier.

I can't remember the circumstances of him leaving but lyle alzado signing with the fade fried my ass and him turning into al davises giant douchebag/raiderball poster child will forever be burned into my brain.

I was more upset when Lynch left. Though I think that Sharpe left on worse terms. This is the only thing that I don't blame Griese for.

because the poll was between these 2 guys? He wasnt asking which of all broncos left on the worst terms. He was asking of these 2 players.

uh...yea i didn't really gather that from the thread title but fair enough...

but as far as i'm concerned...this is just the kind of poll Quitterson should be on and winning...

I still think something went on other than what was said behind the scenes with Lynch and Mike.

again, this poll isn't about which former Bronco you hate the most for leaving, it's about 2 guys that both were heavily liked while playing in Denver that some thought left on questionable terms.

Putting Sharpe and Lynch in the same class as Kennison and Walker is just plain wrong and no one would vote for either Sharpe or Lynch, wanted to make this a pretty even vote.

and it's still amazes me that some vote for it's Griese's fault...classic!

I was sad to see both go mainly because of the contributions they made to the team but didn't have any animosity when they went because I didn't know exactly what had happened to make them do it. The only time I felt any bad will towards one of them was when Sharpe made his stupid remarks comparing Dilfer to Elway.....and as better! I figured his big mouth had finally swallowed his brain.

If that ********** made the list, he'd win by a landslide. However, if you add Javon Walker to the list, things could tighten up...™

I have no respect for someone who makes up excuses to Championship Piggyback. e.g., Lynch and Sam Cassell.

Deion was a starter on his championship teams though.

Guys who play Championship Piggyback are almost always bit players, or cheerleaders for their teams. The only guy who I can think of who was a major contributor is Clyde Drexler in the NBA's Houston Rockets in the mid-90s.

It's Griese's fault? Foneco? What is up with all this lame bull**** on here? It's not funny. It's dumb.

Kitterson had to be the worst, he not only leaves but goes to a division rival and has his best games vs us year in and year out.

2nd would be Alzado but he was traded because he threatened to either box or wrestle so the owner traded him to cleveland so he could get something rather than have him walk.

3 is Lynch, he talked all about "class" and "leadership" yet when he wanted to go to a better team he bails on the team and demands to be released. I lost about all of my respect for this 2 faced prima donna

I vote Shannon retiring. We had plans to replace Lynch. We've brought in three safeties this offseason drafting one and signing two free agents. Lynch leaving poses a loss in the leadership department, but on the field I think we're prepared to play well without him.

Shannon left after announcing he would return. We could have gone after a TE in the draft had he announced it prior to. B/c of Shannon we had to endure 4 years of Mock drafts saying we'd take one TE or another in the first round. Miller, Olsen, Davis, all of 'em over the past 4 or 5 years were slotted to the Broncos! It was Shannon's fault! ;D

Lynch. He basically said it was about playing time and it wasn't.

Lynch was the most disappointing of all....Sharpe was like Elam...in the end, both were all about cash and chased $$$ (Elam to ATL and Sharpe to TV..a job he still sucks at BTW). Lynch, like Seau before him in Miami, lied his way out of town for a supposedly more realistic chance at a Super Bowl....no surprise that they both went to NE.

Lynch had to do what he thought was best for him. Thats waht people usually do, but I just dont get it. Plus, I still hate Walker with a passion now

hey look do what you want...

but your question is which former broncos left on the worse terms...not "which of the two broncos"...and the answer is quitterson...and yes i'm still bitter about that bum...

any poll about leaving the team high and dry is going to have quitterson brought up...you should know that going in...

but i did vote on your poll...i'm not upset with either of those 2...

Shanahan ran Sharpe out of town. It's fairly likely that he "encouraged" John to seek a starting gig elsewhere, as well.

Do you guys not understand how he runs this team? He's an absolute dictator. Generally, he's effective. That said, he probably respected John enough to grant him a chance to save face.

This is all pretty simple. If you're "mad" about this, it probably means you're just not looking at it correctly, imo.

There's nothing to be mad about. Sad, yes.

Just wanted to make the poll fair, putting Kennison up against how Sharpe and Lynch left would be a landslide lock for Kennison and making a poll about it pretty obsolete.

He's pulling a Karl Malone and we all know how that turned out.... **Crickets** The 2nd leading NBA scorer of all time, Multi NBA MVP, Several NBA championship runner-ups, and a member of the original dream team went out on the bottom.

You never heard so much of a peep from his retirement.
