Most guys in Cell Block D don't have a plan this good, but most guys in Cell Block D aren't Mike Vick.

Michael Huyghue, the commissioner of the upstart United Football League, which plans to start play in 2009, is chomping at the big to throw millions at Vick. He sees Vick as the star attraction of his soon-to-be fledgling league.

From Peter King's Monday Morning Quarterback:

The big news, I suppose, from my talk with Huyghue was this: He said the chances of a UFL team signing Michael Vick to play the 2009 season are "98 percent.'' Strange percentage, but that's what he said.

"Michael's not going to be able to walk right back into the NFL,'' Huyghue said. "He's going to need some kind of buffer before he signs in the NFL, and we'll be able to provide that for him.''

I don't know if Vick's going to need a buffer or not, but he is going to need cash. And I can't see any NFL team giving him more than the veteran's minimum, whereas the UFL could conceivably pay him in the neighborhood of $4 million a year. The prestige of being an NFL player is nice, but not being broke is probably a higher priority.

And it would be completely worth it for the UFL, too, even if Vick is never the player he once was. The attention and curiosity he'll generate is something they won't be able to get from any other player, I don't care who they pluck off an NFL roster.

He wasn't very good to begin with. Now he's older, hasn't played and will have a ton of distractions. I hope the NFL is smart enough to dissuade this guy from playing, but if they're not... I hope he's a Raider or a Chief.

Dude if Boss was 6-3 230ish and a weakside linebacker I wouldn't be worried. Boss is not only is small, he plays small. He doesn't take on blocks or shed blocks very well. He has some speed and coverage ability and that's about it. He isn't even a solid tackler.

This guy thinks Boss Bailey at 230 pounds makes him big. True some players have played well at that size but mostly strongside linebackers. Boss Bailey is tiny by NFL standards. He may be tall but he makes it for it by being thin.

Just FYI, you are forgetting that Vick faces STATE charges when he is released, and i dont think our good buddy Roger Goddell has made any decision that Vick will ever play in the NFL or not, you have to remember that right before Vick plead guilty, he told Roger that he was innocent. I really hope Roger never lets that worthless, Lyin piece of trash back on the field and i would hope that everyone else out there would follow suit.

If this guy hires Vick, it will be a deal killer for me, i will not watch another hyped XFL type game, ran by people trying to get shock value entertainment to run a franchise. He would be a great back up for Jamarcus Russell... at the tune of 10 yrs, 120 mill. Vick could teach him all about the dog business, and Jamarcus could teach Mike how to win a pie eating contest. Its a win-win for both of them. Jamarcus can develop job skills for his post-NFL days (which with the quality of the Raider O-line is probably coming sooner than he thinks). Meanwhile, all the pies will slow Mikey down, and he can focus on actually developing into a pocket quarterback.
