View Full Version : Retards in Cleveland

I just got back from a short trip to Cleveland. The wife and I were staying downtown at the Arcade building, which turns out to be a really cool part of a revitalized downtown. It was my first trip to Cleveland, and I was honestly impressed with how much fun we had.
That said, we were within walking distance from the football stadium, so we decided on a whim to check out the pre-game activities. We wound up buying tix ten rows from the field for 50 bucks total. The first string Browns were pretty impressive... especially the front 7 defense... and that fantastic one-hander TD catch by Edwards happened right in front of us.
Long story short.... half of the fan jersey's were Brady Quinn. The biggest roar of the evening was when Quinn took the field with the 2's. I couldn't believe it. I even got into a somewhat heated debate with some local season ticket holders over the issue. Might have been because I (in a less-than-sober state) asked if they were ****ng retards for wanting Quinn over Anderson. It was good times.

While I don't meet a lot of them, the few Brown fans I have talked to seem to be high on Quinn, and don't give Anderson a lot of credit. They must know something we don't.

Did you tell them that Brady Quinn got a paper cut and it usually takes 2 years to fully heal from that?

Only Paris Hilton is more of a celebrity for doing less, though devotees of her, um, "film career" might beg to differ.
Quinn is like pecs-ahoy in every ad everywhere.
In fact, the more I think about it, Paris and Brady make the perfect couple and could serve as U.S. Ambassadors to Fluffministan.

Hilarious!
You have to understand that Brady is a Ohio kid. Born in Columbus, played High School ball in Dublin.
It's the home town boy love.
We have seen it on here for players like D. Graham, Lepsis, Sapp... any Buff or Ram player.
It's homerism at it's finest. The first bad game for Anderson and the Brady chants will be loud. And just not from the stands. Local media will chant just as loud.

Brady Quinn is hot and totally awesome at football. Wasn't Brady Quinn prophesized as coming from the heavens to the be the second coming in the third book of Mathew? No wait... I've been drinking haven't I!?!?
I wonder if Broncos fans will be the same way on the off chance that Jack Elway ends up here in like 5... Holy cow I am being a retard! Well in the spirit of my retardedness: Go Brady GO!!!!!

You didn't happen to mention your favorite team and say things like "WE OWN YOU!!!one1!!" and "hope we get to play you in yet another AFC Championship game" in your drunken stupor?
Cuz I'd pay money to see film of that.

well living here in clveland i can shed a little insight on the subject. Yes Cleveland has begun revitalizing the downtown.......20 years too late, but better late than never. As for brady quinn, the fact that hes from ohio has something to do with it. But the main reason they want quinn is because 1. They gave up A LOT to get him. 2. Anderson is/was an unproven player......he had a good year last year (he did make the pro bowl, but only because 2 QBs declined the invitation) but the year before he was below average when he played for the injured frye. Granted, I know he was just a backup then, but if Frye kept getting the nod over anderson as the starter (remember Frye was the starter last year at the start of the season) then obviously the coaches and GM didnt think he was that good.
In my honest opinion from watching him here the last few years, He is an average QB. I think he had a great year last year, but he had some BAD interceptions (think bengals game at the end of the year) that cost them a playoff spot. It was his first year as a starter so I am not writing him off. I think the browns fans see this as Quinn is just as good as DA, but has the potential to be way better so why not give him the shot. After all he was a first round pick.
Not saying i agree with it, but living here i can tell you thats the reason behind the excitement for Quinn.

As a season ticket holder to his college team while he was playing, I can tell you that he is TONS better than the bad you see now. Now that he has had a full year under his belt and their is is a good deal of video tape to study his tendencies, I can just about promise his pick count to go up (DA that is) and for him to struggle. That said, he is so much more physically talented than Quinn.

The inspiration for the entire "you know how I know you're gay" scene from 40 year-old virgin.

I don't know what's funnier about this. Brady Quinn managing to look super gay in yet another picture, or the sheer level of douchery achieved by the two other ballbags in the shot.

They are looking into the camera man's eyes as though to find a fourth person for their "party". Looks like the intro to a very bad movie.

Living here in the Cleveland area and having a whole family of Browns fans, even they admit that the only people that don't realize that Anderson is the solid starter and it's not an open QB competition between D.A. and Quinn are the Browns fans.
Funny cause I went to the Browns-49ers game last year and Anderson got hurt for any missed a couple series, when they announced Brady Quinn coming into the game the crowd acted like they just won a playoff game, it was chaos and so damn loud of an ovation(not for D.A.'s injury, but for Brady.)
Then after 2 bad passes, the crowd just turns on him and chants of "D.A.!" start coming out and soon after, D.A. retursn from the lockerroom and gets back in the game and all things are sane again.
The coaches, the players, the front office all have their heads on straight that Derrick Anderson is the starting QB for the Browns, only the fans don't know it quite yet.

Browns fans still don't really know what to do with the success they had last year. It's like they're just waiting for them to suck again. That makes them pretty cool to talk football with.
Yeah, I'm also an Ohio native.
