Denver Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler will replace John Lynch as host of KCNC-TV’s Monday night football-highlights show, the station announced Wednesday.

The weekly show on Denver’s Channel 4 — branded as CBS4 — will be retitled “Qwest Jay Cutler Live.” It will normally appear at 6:30 p.m. Mondays, but the debut show with Cutler will run on Tuesday, Sept. 9, because of the Broncos’ Monday-night game that week.

The program will be broadcast live from the Old Chicago restaurant in Littleton.

Lynch, a veteran safety for the Broncos and frequent Pro Bowl player, asked for a release from the team in July after it appeared his playing role would be reduced in the upcoming season. He hopes to sign on with another NFL team.

CBS4 said it will carry four other weekly football-related programs during the coming football season.

They are “Mike Shanahan Show Powered by Subaru Forester,” Saturdays at 6 p.m., featuring the Broncos head coach and hosted by Gary Miller; “Pizza Hut Football Preview,” Saturdays at 6:30 p.m., hosted by Reggie Rivers; “Chevy All Access,” Sundays at 10:35 p.m., hosted by Vic Lombardi; and “Ford Countdown to Kickoff,” airing prior to Broncos games, hosted by Rivers.

Replacing Lynch's show... hopefully he can become that on-field leader Lynch was, too.

One would hope that Jay gets a bit of help in the public speaking arena. He is going to need to be out there and fluid even after crouching defeats.

Sounds good.

I don't know, it's his third year and he is starting to take the leadership role. Cutlers already well on his way to being the face of the franchise, nothing wrong with putting him in the spotlight and gaining some experience in front of the camera and with the media.

You've clearly never seen the show. He basically sits in a pizza parlor and nods his head. At least It'll be worth watching now.:)

I just hope Jay takes advantage of this oppurtunity and uses it as an Avenue to promote the Beetus...I have NO concerns what-so-ever as to how he presents himself, OR his public people speaking skills for that matter...

Jay IS the man...I see alot of good things instore for him, his team and his foundation, this year and many, many more to come..

And the large blonde chick with beads and Broncos gear will hog half the screen. He has it made.

That's a good thing as I never thought Jay was all that adept at public speaking. It may help him come a long way in that area or it could be very painful to watch.

Actually I think he's getting better there. You watch the old stuff from last year and he looks timid and he's starting to get more comfortable up there. It took John awhile to be as good with the media as he was.

Or it could end up like the "Ask Jay Cutler" bits from KSK.
