i bet $20 the broncos would win the super bowl last year (at 18-1 odds mind you). thought simeon rice signing was HUGE. wanted jonathan stewart in the first round of the draft, wasnt excited when we picked clady. rode the travis henry train like everyone else. had to research eddie royal after we drafted him cuz i had no frickin clue who he was *jury is still out on this one*.

I admit I'm surprised that Marshall seems to have recovered as quickly as he has. I guess I had the wrong doctors when I cut some nerves. As much as I'd like to see Bmarsh out there week 1 those extra weeks may make the difference for him having a full recovery. Hmm did I just spit my crow out?

I thought Bates' scheme would work for us. Unfortunately they tried to fit a scheme to players who weren't right for it.
I too thought Simeon Rice would work out for us.
Was far too sympathetic for Javon Walker.

Over the years that I've been on the Mane, I've been wrong about a lot of things. And right about others. Normally, I eat my crow in a timely manner as its served, but hey... give me a nice glass of wine to go with it and I'll take more. :P

I thought Bates was going to make our D unstoppable. It was obvious by the Cowboys game though that it wasn't going to happen... painfully obvious once the season started.
I'm not really riding the Slowik train, so hopefully this is what I am wrong about this year.

Good thread. Two years ago, I posted that Mike Bell would establish himself as the decisive starter by the end of his rookie season. People have been nice not dredging that one up.

I'm surprised by Marshall's recovery as well.
I thought Henry would perform at a high level when he was here
and I thought Walker would shut his mouth and fight to reclaim the #1 WR spot instead of what went down.
I lose a lot of sleep over each one of those too, lemme tell ya...Ha!

I thought after watching less skilled players rush for so many yards here , that with Travis Henry we would be one of the top three teams in rushing last year. well we all know how that turned out.

I hope you have a whole flock ready for the "Tatum just drug Ray Lewis 5 yds, he's going to be a great one" crowd

Jeesh, where to begin...
Guys I thought of as future big-time performers and/or great additions for us...
Watts, Tatum (at least he had some huge games), iHop, Kennoy, Ray Rhodes, Rod Bernstien, Jim Bates, Wesley Duke, Jeff Lewis, Eric Brown, Mike Croel.... so many, from so many eras.
The list could go on forever.
Considering that franchises full of professional scouts can only get about 1/3rd of their draft picks right... and probably around the same in free agency, any fan who claims any better success rate with predictions is full of poo.

Bell fooled a lot of people, including Shanahan for good reason. He was a beast, physically... despite not looking like it. (Crazy combine numbers.)
He was productive in college and was a logical draft pick for us.
All that said, he had some absolutely huge games for us... including some absolutely clutch runs in the 05 AFCCG season stretch. (Blew up against the Pats.) He also torched the Chefs on several occasions, if memory serves.
So, as second rounders go... you'd like to do better, but we've absolutely done much worse. In fact, I'd say we usually do much worse.

I'm never wrong, just misunderstood.
everyone was wrong about Madise, but thhar was when we were salivating over the Reeds...if we had taken Ed Reed...wasnt it Josh Reed? like Madise?

Drafted Travis Henry in the first round of my fantasy football draft (11th overall).
Drafted Javon Walker in the fifth round.
Drafted the Broncos defense in the 14th round.
Finished 9th in a 12 player league, and all because I'm such a @!#%! homer.....

Hopefully my crow this year will be my non belief in Slowik, Dennison, and Darrell Jackson. I hope to eat an entire plate, with seconds.

Here is mine, Its a huge helping of crow...
I actually bought a Maurice Clarrett Autographed Football Card the day after the Broncos drafted him. I thought he would come to camp and be huge. Thought he would be the steal of the draft.....HA!
Crow kinda tastes like chicken....

Thought Darius Watts was going to be a stud.
Thought Bates would field a top 5-10 defense based on his previous results.
Those are the only two things I've ever been wrong about. ;D

I really cant seem to remember ever being wrong. I guess the closest thing would be predicting the greatness that is Mustard would break out last season. Obviously I was just a year early so I'm not really wrong.

I'm still convinced Mike could excel in our system and was never given a chance. I also still believe that Jake should still be starting this year and handing the reigns over to Jay next season. But eh, I'll have a seagull appetizer until the crow is served.
Now something to actually eat: I was quite pissed when I heard that Marshall was going to be our #2 when Rod went down. I could hardly see him as a #3 at that point. Oops :thanku: Clearly I should've gone to TC last year...

I was completely wrong about last year's team, I predicted a playoff run. I completely ignored the Broncos lack luster scrimmages against a true contendar, the Dallas Cowboys, who basically manhandled the Broncos the whole time the two teams played together.
I brushed off the Cowboys TC matchup as nothing important and that Wade Phillips did not understand that turning his guys loose did not really speak well of his coaching philosophy. In retrospect, I now see that the Broncos were simply over matched and out performed. It was a good litmus test for the Broncos and proved correct in the regular season.
Hopefully, this Broncos squad will do much better against the boys in this years TC scrimmages.
