View Full Version : Is Eddie Royal this years Adrian Madsie?

This time of year, Denver always has a guy in camp that everyone falls in love with at the WR position. This year, (not including Bmarsh) we have been hearing all these great things about Eddie. Do you think this will translate to the field? Or will it be another Camp Superstar gone bad?

Player highlight: Never heard of Denver fifth-round wideout Adrian Madise? You will. The hands, the burst, the power -- and especially those sure hands -- will carry him a long way in his NFL career. Like into a starting job when Rod Smith and Ed McCaffery walk away.

I'll say this. He's doing great but the way the Radio stations here talk about him you'd think he was going to the pro bowl. I notice one or two grabs a practice that are impressive and beyond that not too much. Considering he's mostly going to be our return guy, I'm considering anything he produces at receiver this season as bonus.

It's amazing how one typo can change a player's name so much. Sounds like a small poodle:
"C'mere, Madsie, OH THAT'S A GOOD GIRL, GOOD GIRL MADSIE"
I'm still waiting for Kevin Kasper to find his stride...

He'd better bloody not be.
I hated this pick (at the slot where we took him). I wanted more DL/LB help.
That said, I'm sitting here with a fork/knife, ready to gobble up that crow. I love what I'm hearing about him in camp and if he sparks the offense and special teams, it'll be worth the high pick.
If he ends up a so-so return specialist, it's going to be another Shanahan head-scratcher.
Fingers crossed. It sure would be nice to have a guy teams were afraid to kick to.

No way I think he will be the real deal. Coach raves about him already. Don't think I remember him saying what he has said about Madise.
He made a catch today that one other current Bronco could have made and thats Marshall. The others I don't think could have caught it.
The difference btw him and the others though is he hasn't played a down in a game. So I won't be totally sold until I see it in a game.

Ironicly enough, I was reading Fatsis's book, and so far Brandon Marshall has been mentioned exactly once.
I saw Royal in practice the other day. Impressive, but I am ot sure I would have him at the number two behind Brandon. That seems a bit dicey to me.

Adrian Madise will play in the Pro Bowl some day. One pass in Friday morning's practice told me everything I needed to know about him. Madise had just cut inside on a crossing route, and the ball was whistling through the air. Surely it would be past him before he could react and catch it. Well, Madise thrust his gloved hands ahead of him, and I swear he caught the back end of this bullet, just as it was about to blow past. What a catch. That ball should have never touched his hands, and he caught it and sped upfield. I mentioned the catch to Mike Shanahan later, and he smiled. "Why do you think we signed him to a five-year contract?" he said. In other words, he doesn't want to develop Madise, then lose him once Ed McCaffery and Rod Smith are gone.
Everyone was all over Madise's jock during his first camp, including Shanahan.

Royal is different, he fits into the puzzle better then the before mentioned. His seperation ability on underneath routs will cause major headaches for defenses. Just watch and see, he will fit perfectly

For what it's worth, Madise is living in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and is trying to get into broadcasting. He was up at the ESPN Radio studios a few weeks back and is going to be doing some work on the side this fall. I had the chance to meet him and he's a pretty cool guy. Very level-headed. Resume is a bit odd, though. Lists Shanahan as a reference.
But I'm still holding out for Triandos Luke, personally.

Adrian Madise could have lived up to that hype, but getting suspended pretty much ended his career as I don't think he ever made a serious come back attempt.

And I'd just like to mention that I hate threads like this. We should be talking about the potential success and impact our players will be having, not predicting what kind of epic failure they can become before they have even taken a preseason snap.

I'm not sure Eddie is going to make a big splash this year. You can see the talent, but it will take time for him to adjust. If he can come in and do well on some gimmick plays and catch 20-25 balls but be one of the top 10 in punt returns then I think you'd have to consider his rookie season a success. The first two games are a bit murky, but I have a lot of confidence in DJack. He has looked very good in camp and has shown the ability to find the holes in zone coverage and will make a very nice living off of the deep out this year! We have a very good #2 right now in DJack.

No worries about Marshall suspension, after Sam Graddy wins gold in the 400-meter relay, he's coming straight to camp.

I think Eddie Royal will be an excellent 4th option this year. If he continues to play like he has then he will be pushing for more time next year.
I can't wait to see if we actually have a returner in him. Granted we also need blockers but if he is anything like JMFW then he won't need them.

Touche.
I'd call Darius a great joke though. Not only did he not play well... he lost that SD game with a missed catch. AND he got rave reviews from Shanahan as a standout from camps weeks before getting the axe.

That was really weird. He went on and one about him. The only possible explanation is they were in trade talks with someone.
