Denver owner Pat Bowlen should never speak in public again. A very nervous Bowlen gave one of the most difficult to listen to speeches in Hall of Fame history when he presented T Gary Zimmerman. He may have had stage fright, which is all the more reason he should have simply stood up and said “Here’s Gary.”

It was bad, but at least I understood what he was saying, unlike Bob Kraft and his terrible New England accent.

Pat's always been a horrible speaker.
Anytime he introduces someone into the Ring of Fame at the stadium, it's painful. I'm surprised Zim asked him to be his presenter, but I guess that shows how much Zim appreciates Pat.
I love Pat and am glad he is our owner, but I don't exactly look forward to his speeches.

We got spoiled on how great he sounded with "This one's for John!" That's the Pat Bowlen I will always try to keep in my head. Maybe he just needs to keep all of his public speeches to 4 words?
He's the best owner in the league, but he should pay someone to teach him public speaking.

Fraidy Cat??
No, that would be CP's sackless message to Weigman:
“He ended up calling me and leaving a message on my cell phone saying that they were going to go in a different direction"
KC, a classless organization.
Bowlen, a horrible public speaker, but all class.
Bob is bitter because KC's awesome draft is heading down the crapper

Bob is like a ferrel cat the just comes by to scatch off some fleas occasionally.
Pat sounds a lot better when he is limited to four words.

Oh, and here I was just figuring that Bowlen was being labeled a fraidy cat cuz he refused to bet with Bob.
Who know that public speaking at an emotional moment was tough???

Why don't you post some of your outlandish Queef reports from training camp if you went this year. Maybe you didn't go after all your training camp reports from last year proved you know nothing about judging football players or X's and O's.
Public Speaking is man's single greatest fear even greater than the fear of death. Fact!

Which is why playing music is so good for kids. It really does help get over stage fright and the fear of performing in public. Put your kids in band and watch how smart it makes them also. Proven fact musicians have a greater ability to link the hemispheres of the brain to work together. Merging the creative side with the logical side. Baja you could use some musical ability for when the radios all go dead in the big pandemic. I mean life with only gas masks, a garden, and no music would be really boring.

In a million years I can't believe he said, "when we brought Zim over, I think we had one of the better lines in the league." Why can't he just READ the speech? Just READ it. :oyvey:
I was disappointed Zim didn't mention Nalen ... he's gonna be a tough call for Canton, prolly a bit like Gradishar. Every year, year in, year out, we'll be waiting to see if he makes the 15. It's gonna be a long slow haul for Nalen and Rod.

Pretty sure you labeled KC's draft as busts before they even stepped on the field for training camp...

I couldn't agree more? WTF? Nalen deserved some love, makes ya wonder?
Being that everyone is acknowledging the mediocre speech of Pat and not saying much about Zimm's speech. I have to say something honestly.
While Zimm's speech was well thought out and executed effectively "off the cards" & the plan, I found it mediocre, as a "speech". His eyes almost never left the cards (i.e. why he mentioned Stinky cause he couldn't be sure to remember the plays) it was robotic in speech execution and had almost no emotion. I thought Pat despite his mistakes (probably booze related cause he hates public speaking) was at least emotionally genuine. I think Zimm dealt with his fear of public speaking with structure and a plan to read the cards. I think Pat had a couple coldies and said f-u-k it. Neither of them bothered me, I could see where both were coming from but neither made a "great speech", IMO.
Honestly, and I think I'm probably going to get creamed for saying this but I didn't think Art Monk's speech was spectacular either. I grew up watchin' the guy and can honestly say, he's one of the only reasons I ever watched the Redskins. As a football fan in general and a guy that likes to watch all teams play, he is one of my favorite receivers of all time.
However, his speech struck me as extremely self reverent. His standing ovation(s) and fan representation was impressive. Don't get me wrong but IMO a truly humble man would have quieted the crowd a lot earlier on the first ovation. Once he started speaking, he immediately made me think "spiritual evangelist" not great teammate and football player. He seemed to incorporate a lot of words that alluded to and referenced humility but I didn't feel compelled to believe him.
He said all the right things but he annoyed me with using the NFL stage and the media to promote Christianity. There are a lot of different spiritual views represented in the NFL. I just found how frequently he and his son referenced it annoying. The HOF is about football. How many times do you need to thank and reference a factor that was significant to how you view your success without it becoming a redundancy and an "over promotion". I'm a spiritual man but I thought about how I would feel if he showed up to my door with that persona. He wouldn't even get 3 minutes, even if I recognized him as Art Monk.
Anyway, jack me up...I know I have it coming.

Kaylore has pretty accurately predicted KC's failures over the last several years...although to be fair you don't exactly need a crystal ball to see that you guys will be falling on your face for the near future.

Yep. Take a Bowlen thread and throw in your trolling Shanahan opinion
As a matter of fact, Mike was the only Denver guy there that made me proud to be a Broncos fan. Because I sure didn't get that feeling from listening to a drunk Bowlen, introduce a zombie Zimmerman (couldn't agree more with hambone about the dullness of his speech), who proceeded to compliment an uninterested, texting Elway.
Regardless of your annoying opinion Wolf, Mike is class all the way.

I'll admit that it wasn't my best speech and I'll take the lumps that go with it, but I stand by my choice in color. What's the opposite of orange, anyway?
