I have to agree. He's playing against a bunch of third string players. However if Jason Campbell doesn't shine right away, you can bet that Brennan has shown enough to get the sheep-herd Redskin fans off the cliff into a controversy. After Madden explained how perfect his name was, it became inevitable.

Personally I think Colt McCoy is the best QB name ever. Too bad he looks like Archie Bunker.

im not basing it off the hall of fame game, and he was obviously not playing against any starters. however based on his college achievements and his ability to lead a high powered offense, i think he will be starting soon. hes accurate and smart, even though his mechanics arent perfect, they get the job done clearly without a problem.

well see though :D

Average size, average arm but what he does really well is anticipate when he receivers are breaking and where to place the ball. He could do well. I think he's been well coached in college in things that will work well on the pro game. He's always had terrific anticipation in the passing game while reading a defense. You can't coach that.

LOL, this is the quickest prediction I've seen in years.

He's not going to play unless Campbell and Collins goes down. LOL.

He still has to make the team.

I agree 100%, I am not willing to call him the next Elway, but he looked great tonight. Will someone satisfy my laziness and tell me where in the hell he played in college?

edit: nevermind, I looked, Hawaii

I don't know too much about him other than I think he broke some passing records in Hawaii and he was supposed to be drafted pretty high, but he had a lot of character issues what not.

The point I'm getting at is that Colt is a system QB. He's as good at QB as Olandis Gary was at RB for us. It's all in the system. That same system made Ashley Lelie look like a #1 WR

I liked him at Hawaii but make no mistake that he is playing for 3rd string in training camp. He has to shed the shoot n run offense that June uses. He has the ability to learn the offense of the Redskins. Nice 2nd half and hope this helps make the team.

Cleo had a lot of spectacular games against 3rd stringers. He could look like Rosebowl Vince Young out there on a consistent basis. Unfortunately for him, and unfortunately for Colt Brennan, it's a whole different ball game when you are going up against players who are actually going to make an active NFL roster.

the one thing I noticed was how acurate he was... you can't coach that... and that is perfect trait for the WCO

Skins look like they got a nice QB situation - A legit young starter in Campbell, a solid Vet back up in Collins and nice young 6th round prospect in Colt to develope.

What more could you ask for?

of course when was the last time a QB taken in the 6th round any good... it's not like Tom Brady was a 6th rounder or anything...

Some other QB's picked ahead of Colt:

John David Booty - Vikes
Kevin O'Connell - Pats
Chad Henne - Fins
Brian Brohm - Packers

Colt lead all 3 of the skins game winning drives... Flacco came up empty for the ravens tonight

I know it's preseason, and he's throwing to guys who will picking up garbage come Sept, but Colt just seems to have "something"

the skins other back ups have been playing with 3rds and 4th as well and aren't looking as good as this kid.

The most impressive thing is his accuracy - other than when he's thrown it away, he hits rec in their hands - good raw talent for Zorn to develope anyway <!--IBF.ATTACHMENT_11199527-->

lol... so many say the exact ame thing about many of Favres throwns...

watch it again http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter?game_id=29803&season=2008&displayPage=tab_gamecenter

Ihedigbo alraedy had a pick (on Devine) and layed out for this one, but the pass was thrown away from the def, where only the rec could get it... he should have just made to tackle... he gambled and lost... the difference between receptions and interception in the NFL is inches

time will tell if Colt will be any good, but he's making the most of he chances in preseason with players that won't even make the practice squad...

if his oline could have blocked for him in the Sugar Bowl and he had not gotten injured pre-draft he would have gone higher than the 5th round

Currently Brennan leads all 2008 NFL rookies in Touchdown Passes, Passing Yards and Quarterback Rating

these are some impressive records to hold in Div 1 ball, no matter what anyone says:

NCAA record for most career touchdown passes (131). Achieved November 23, 2007.
NCAA record for most career touchdowns responsible for (146). Achieved November 23, 2007.
NCAA record for most 400 yard games (20). Achieved in 2007.
NCAA two-season record for most touchdown passes, (96 -- achieved 2006-2007)
NCAA record for passing efficiency (season), posting a 186.0 mark in 2006
NCAA record for most passing yards (two seasons) with 9,850 (2005-2006)
NCAA record for most points responsible for (season) with 385. (2006)

you can not honestly be comparing Colt to Brett? Favre had one of the strongest arms in the league (still top 5). Brennan would be lucky to have Brodie Coyle's arm strength....

broncocalijohn

I dont think guys like Dan Fouts had exceptional arm strength. Accuracy and reading defenses are more important. Not sure why some want to play down Colt's performances so far. No one is saying he is top 5. He probably wont start, but if he becomes 2nd stringer drafted that late, it shows he has more than a "June Jones offense" player. Hawaii's former QB Chang had a ton of recoreds at his playing time and where is he now?

About all I'm saying too...

JJ system may help pad stats but JJ's not the one throwing it with over 70% accuracy... you can't coach that...

Colt has shown more in the preseason than Chang ever did...

I know it's preseason - but it's preseason for all the other QBs as well.... but 1st with 74% comp, 1st in yards, 1st in avg 10.4, 1st in TDs 3, longest comp 37 yards, most 20+ yards comp 5, and a QB rating of 146.6

the other rookie QB are playing preseason ball with guys that wont be on the teams come sept as well....
