I have a stupid beer question...I usually get MGD Light...and what I got tonight says MGD Light 64 calories? Is that just a new label or an even lighter beer? It seems like it tastes a little different...but I've been drinking wine lately and Miller Lite so maybe it's just me??

The problem is it's not beer.
THIS is beer:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guinness
or, in a pinch, most of the stuff from New Belgium is decent....

It is new......its only in select areas right now but will be nationwide by october 2008. Now that miller and coors teamed up.....it says they are making mgd light 64 to compete with bud select (their low cal/carb beer)
so yes it is slightly different, and even though its a miller beer, its actually being produced in the coors plant. Regular mgd light is gone forever.
hope that helps.

Pretty soon you will just get h2o w/4.3% alcohol and a lime slice.

He does like those heavy setting, meals in a bottle, two beers and you're full, so thick you can spread it on toast, glug from the bottle like syrup type of beers....must make for a very short night of drinking.

MGD Light 64 is replacing the regular old MGD Light. It is actually in direct competition with Michelob Ultra, since Ultra is famous for being the "healthy" low carb beer. Bud Select isn't really relevant...its share is very small and has been losing ground lately, too. MGDL 64 has less carbs and calories than Mich Ultra, and is actually the lowest calorie beer on the market now (tied with Becks Light, but nobody drinks that anyway).
EDIT: I'm actually not positive if 64 is replacing MGD Light entirely. We were told that it wasn't, and that they'd both still be produced. But at least in our company (I work for a distributor), we only have 64 and not MGDL anymore.

One of my favorite regulars drinks Mich Ultra Amber (we basically only order it for him) and despite ringing it in as the "bitch ass beer" button, its all in jest. Drink what you want. I made a group of Marine tonight whiskey sour's, and some Sex on the Beach. Most Marines I served with and bartend to now refuse straight shots.
A drink does not define you, but does not exempt you from being given ****.

I guess that's better than Mich Ultra Cactus Lime or Mich Ultra Pomegranate.

I offical protest this being the "new" beer thread. It needs to be about beer for that to be true. I formal request that the mods or the starter of the thread retitle it the offical Horse Piss thread. Also it needs to be move to the butt ASAP.

MGD Light's performance has been slipping for years. Miller realized that they needed to do something to re-energize the brand. It is most certainly not being produced in a Coors brewery at this time.

When you choose a beer based solely on its caloric content, you are going to end up with schlock every time. I think that low calorie stuff is for people who more like the idea of beer than beer itself. And while I understand the desire to cut down the carb intake, just a have a few real brews and reduce your calories for that day from some other source... say dinner. You can just drink it. ;D

I was just going for the reg. mgd light...not realizing that they had come out with something different. Just thought they changed the package and didn't look at it that close.

If low calorie beer is your thing, try Becks Light. Its better than all the others and is only 64 calories too. Yep, you can now drink 50 beers.

Maybe I'll just go back to Miller Lite...easier to find anyway...Bars don't usually have MGD light anyway.

Face it Sassy, it was coming not just from me. People need to get on the Belgium beer hype. Hoogegarden isone of the finest white beers out there. Blue Moon does a good job but that taste is what beer should taste like. But Sassy, I have one that is even lower in calories and has a stronger taste and isnt bitter. It is called water.

Only sissy boys from Western NY cant handle more than 2 good beers. Coors is for tailgatting for hours. Sam Adams and such are for drinking no more than 2 beers in one hour.

I'm not a huge fan of Hoegaarden. Something about the taste is just off to me. Blue Moon, however, is delicious!

I don't like to many off the wall brews.
Had a few to many Sierra Nevada's last night, been a while since I threw back some.
Otherwise I love Mississippi mud, Coors light is good for tailgates.
