Are we serious? What has this guy done in his career to deserve going into training camp as the only guy at his position?

He went 1 for 4 last year!

With as close as games are in the NFL, the kicker is going to win or lose you AT LEAST 4 games.

Tell me I'm reading the roster wrong at DenverBroncos.com.

No, you're reading it right. Garrett Hartley the rookie kicker out of Oklahoma was cut right before camp. Apparently Prater has been working on his technique and the Broncos are sold on him as our kicker. They must have been to just let Elam go like they did. But, I hear that Prater has been doing very well, and I hope that he does a great job for us this year.

our games wont be close enough to require a good kicker.

either way.. ;D

Well then.

And whats the over/under until Nate Jackson gets hurt? Week 2 or 4 of the NFL season?

Actually guys after watching Prater today I see why he is the only one in camp. He has really stepped his game up. He was 5 for 6 today and I would say 3 of them would have been good from 60+ yards. One of his kicks sailed into the player/coaches parking lot and nailed a car.

You mean, Prater can kick both long FG's AND kickoff too? Wow...I didn't think that was possible anymore in the rarified air of Invesco field....Ha!

Exactly, while I would not want to give up Elam because he is so clutch it will be nice to have a Kicker actually partake in both parts of the kicking game.

Gentleman, its much different when the bullets are real, when the games on the line...........the kid has never felt the heat, nor the pressure, full stadium, timeout for ice.......................

its going to be rocky.

He's just really hoping that Prater fails becasue if he doesn't, it would mean that just maybe it's not "a fact" that we have the worst kicking game in the league and he actually has no idea what he is talking about... and then he will come that much closer to realizing that he's not as important as he thinks he is, and that in the end he's just another jacka$$ with an internet connection.

Is there anything about the Broncos you do like??? Why are you even here??? I haven't read one positive post from you yet.

B/c TJ is too much of a **** to tighten his bs posting up. I'm all for somebody putting things into perspective and even playing Devil's advocate from time to time... but this chump makes BobtheDope look like an intelligent insightful poster. People like this clown have run a lot of the good posters right off this board and into the Atlantis of internet forums. Its too bad, but then if someone like Telluride can tighten himself up, maybe there is hope for Wolf. I told Apa and Champ yesterday that I wish we could find him at camp!

On a side note, Wolf isn't far off from being right on this one. I was impressed with what I saw in Prater yesterday. He was kicking on the south side of the field from the 30-35 yard line (40-45 yard FG). He cleared the uprights, the trees behind the uprights and the fence behind the trees! On the other side of the field I told Apa that he was about to get fired b/c he just booted one into Shanny's car. That was from about the 30 and the parking lot is another 30 yards away from the uprights! That ball traveled atleast 75 yards! But, all of us said we'd need to see what it's like when the pressure is on, which is what Wolf elluded to in his own sh!tty way.

Its time we got some youth at some important positions. QB-Done. WR-Done. LT-Done. TE-Done. RB-Done. Kicker-Done. Punter-Done. DLine-Done. This team is very young and they are heading in the right direction. While 9 or 10 wins are possible this season, I think we're still a year away. IMO, a lot will depend on how long Marshall is out. 2 games and we'll be in the mix for playoffs. 4 or longer and it's going to be tough! Jackson is ready to be the #2 on this team. Scheffler will be a 1000 yard receiver THIS season (providing he stays healthy!). Selvin Young may not be a 2000 yard rusher, but he looks like he could easily go for 1300 which is what I want to see!

Why? Even the mighty Elam did that very thing last year.....and MULTIPLE times throughout his career. How soon we forget.
