Alright you Training Camp Junkies!

Day 2 report and as usual, a couple notes about training camp before I get to the player evaluations.

Showed up to camp roughly around 7:30 am or so, place wasn't nearly jam packed at first. Met up with Apa, Oskie and Kahn. All were nice guys to chat with. We all met Ryan Clady's "cousin". Guy wanted to get tickets from Clady and was yapping to Marshall about something. Forget what but like Oskie said, he was a real piece of work.

Also nobody heeded my advice on keeping their babies and kids at home. I was sitting alongside Oskie and everything was fine for awhile but you know kids, they can't sit still for long period of time. So it wasn't long until I ended up getting kicked and run into by these rascals. I turned to Oskie and Kahn and went "**** man" and soon after the parents took their kids and left. Kahn was like, "did you fart" because they left pretty quickly.

Anyway here is my report and some pics to follow later when I upload them from Photobucket...

Offense

Quarterbacks

Jay Cutler- Needs to work on some things, wasn't overtly impressive today. Still stares down recievers, and that will be corrected. I hope. Cutler was also off a little bit on the deep throws but on most throws he was pretty darn accurate. Both the recievers and QBs need to get the timing down, which is the purpose of camp.

Darrel Hackney- Looked A LOT better today, more accurate and poised when throwing the ball. Totally different player than yesterday, maybe he read my report.;D

Patrick Ramsey. Not good for most of the day, not impressive on throws. Throwing in the dirt and stuff. Not a great second day but he is a veteran so I think he will bounce back.

Running Backs-

Selvin Young- Ran well today, made a few nice catches. Don't see him giving up that #1 spot.

Michael Pittman- Didn't see or focus much on Pittman, but the one time I did was where he dove for a poorly thrown pass by Ramsey and got the wind knocked out of him. He plays hard so thats good.

Ryan Torain- Didn't pay a whole lot of attention to him either, but when I did he still is making the same mistake of running into walls but he did catch the ball effectively and juked somebody out. So some improvement from Torain today.

Andre Hall- Same as yesterdays report. Not much to say here, didn't see him.

Aldridge- Wasn't as noticeable as he was yesterday. Think it was because he got less reps.

Payton Hillis- Pretty quiet today, but still doesn't look like a rookie. Impressed Kahn when I talked to him about Hillis.

Cecil Sapp- I am surprised he was out with the first team today.

Wide Receivers

Brandon Marshall- Still looks a little tired and rusty. Getting better though, had a couple drops but they were poorly thrown passes. Other than the poor passes, he did have some great catches.

Glenn Martinez- Was pretty quiet today.

Eddie Royal- Needs to work on timing with the QBs, things just weren't clicking for him in drills they had the WRs doing.

Darrell Jackson- Looked very good today, Oskie was raving about him after training camp was over. I didn't see him drop a single pass.

Keary Colbert- Didn't see him much out there, wasn't really noticeable.

Brandon Stokely- Today Stokely looked good, but he also had a drop or two that I noticed.

Clifford Russell- I know I said he looks like Camp Fodder, but I think he saw Kahn and it pissed him off seeing as he hates the BYU chumps in the stands. He made several nice grabs, a decent improvement over yesterdays crap showing.

Marquay McDaniel- Didn't notice him much this morning.

Tight Ends

Tony Scheffler- Caught the ball really well again. He can really seperate and get in the open field. He almost caught a long ball but the ball was slightly overthrown by Cutler. Overall very good day for him.

Nate Jackson- Didn't see him on the field much, only saw him yapping but when it comes to on the field play, didn't notice him.

Brett Pierce- Not noticeable.

Chad Mustard- Didn't notice him, according to DenverBroncos.com he is still out of pads.

Daniel Graham- He caught a few balls over on the other side of the field first thing this morning. Hard to see from a distance but he did look improved over yesterday.

Offensive Line

Ryan Clady- A giant, the guy moves very well. One of my concerns prior to camp was whether Clady can adjust to the game speed of the NFL and picking up an NFL scheme. He looked fine today and I don't really have much concern about Clady. Should fit in just fine.

Erik Pears- Had a mistake yesterday, didn't notice him today which is a good thing.

Tom Nalen- Was Tom Nalen again.

Montrae Holland- Was TFTP and was on Sled duty. We were all laughing at him, because he was like, "Man, I hate this s***". :giggle:

Chris Kuper- Didn't see him make a mistake, so really I didn't notice him.

Ryan Harris- Didn't look too good today, as Kahn noted.

Ben Hamilton- Looked rusty to me, got blown up a couple times.

That's about it for the offense......defense next.

Well...at least it wasn't a complete loss.....Brandon got a good hearty breakfast out of it.

Scheffler had that pass. It hit him in his hands then off his face mask. I think it was a perfect throw but what I liked was how Scheffler was pissed at himself.

Hilarious! Yep, Russell, can't blame ya!

Defense

Defensive Line-

Dwayne Robertson- Had limited reps on the field, Kahn said something to the effect the coaches are bringing him along slowly.

Jarvis Moss- To me he looked pretty quick and nimble.

Marcus Thomas- Didn't notice him, he might have been the one pushing Hamilton around...not positive.

Elvis Dumervil-

John Engleberger- He did pretty well today I thought, did very well on the run. Should be a rotation player.

Ekuban- Wasn't noticeable nor did he stand out.

Steven Harris- See above.

Josh Mallard- Was another surprise today, played like he was a man with a mission.

Kenny Peterson- Didn't notice him much, though Kahn says he did well.

Linebackers-

Looking at the roster sheet...we have a crapload of LBers out there.

DJ Williams- Had a "jacked up" hit on Payton Hillis. Looked active out in the field. None of which is surprising.

Niko Koutouvides- Wasn't noticeable out there, he was next to DJ and was overshadowed by DJ on most plays. Still not sure what to make of Niko.

Boss Bailey- Didn't notice him yesterday, but Oskie and myself made it a point to keep a keen eye on Boss Bailey. Boss was all over the field and looked pretty decent.

Nate Webster- Didn't notice him much today.

Jamie Winborn- From what little I saw of him, he still has decent speed. Not much changed from yesterdays evaluation. I think he will be primarily used for special teams.

Larsen- According to DB.com he left camp for a family emergency. Not sure when he will be back. Hope everything is fine for the Larsen family.

Secondary

Champ Bailey- Looked pretty good, stayed on Marshall and any other reciever he was covering. In fact I try not to pay attention to him because he is so good you don't need to evaluate Champ.

Dominique Foxworth- Continued on a roll today, he had a few more passes thrown his way and batted it away and one INT.

Karl Paymah- Decent, nothing special to note of him today.

Dre Bly- Like Hackney, he must have read my report yesterday. He looked like the solid #2 we are paying him to be. Much improved over yesterday.

JMFW- He can close on the receiver quite well. He has lots of potential. Going to be one of our good ones in the future.

John Lynch- I didn't see him make a mistake this morning. Looks pretty good actually.

Hamza- Like Lynch, he did well today in the drills and also in the scrimmage. He and Lynch are likely to be paired up in the beginning of the season.

Roderick Rogers- Like yesterday, Didn't see much of him....looks like camp fodder to me.

Marquand Manuel- I saw him on one play and he missed a tackle and got torched. Not too good but I didn't see him much today.

Josh Barrett- Got an interception today. Very good day for Barrett.

Marlon McCree- Wasn't noticeable much today.

Special Teams-

Prater was 5/6 today by my count, and he has a decent leg. For kickers, we won't know how good they are until preseason. All they did was a couple field goals and not much else.

Pics are up next.

Scheffler had that pass. It hit him in his hands then off his face mask. I think it was a perfect throw but what I liked was how Scheffler was pissed at himself.

I thought he really stretched out his hands to attempt to grab it and the ball came back to his helmet??? Either way he looked fine to me.

Alright here are some pics I took. I didn't take a whole bunch, but I did get some of the offense and defense toward the beginning of practice.

I really like our lineup of Cutler, Young, Marshall, DJack, Graham/Scheffler, and Stokley. I think those guys can be a very good unit that puts up lots of points. As I mentioned during camp, I hope that Bates can bring some innovation along the goal line b/c our opponents have figured Shanny out down there!

Marcus Thomas is big... as in he looks strong this year. We all commented on his size. Like Clady, he carries his 305 lbs very well.

Boss Bailey is a big player and I think #97 makes him look even bigger! His arms are incredibly long too though. They hang to about 3" above his knees!

Dre Bly is one of my favorites on this team. He is just fun lovin and you can tell he really cares. It's nice to have guys like him on the team... the anti-Ian Gold!

You can see Ryan Clady, Ben Hamilton, and Tommy Nalen all lined up next to each other. Something tells me that those three are going to pave the way for Selvin Young and awful lot!

thanks...any pics of big clady today?

First off thanks again for the report and pics.

I'm going to elect myself half assed O-Line analyst here. You can see Clady in 2 pics, and the fact you can't see him in 1 pic means he didn't allow much penetration which is good. He is squared up in the one with the D linemen (can't tell who it is), with great separation however did allow him to jump, and way to high.

In the second pic right after a throw you can see he allows some penetration but it looks like he pushed him outside. That's great Jay's not over there. He can come 50 yards deep if its in the direction of the pylon. If he is only responsible for one man and he is no where near Jay that's perfect in my book. He is letting the guy get his head on his outside shoulder, where his head should be if he is trying to drive him with his momentum backwards, but if its working I'm a fan and its a still picture, and I can't see his footwork.

But he looks like he is handling himself well enough, give me some video and I will be more than just speculating. However I'm not an NFL OL coach so I make no guarantees about the accuracies of anything I said.

Champ go stand with the coaches on the other sideline tomorrow so we can get some much better shots of Clady. And so from 3 pics I have determined we are going to win it all this year.

Oh and somebody get Tommy some damn shorts, he's in his damn skivvies :)

I think that last one you got of BMarsh is when Clady's cousin was yelling at Brandon to go and get Ryan Clady. Brandon was actually patient with him. Later on when dude got Ryan's attention Ryan blew him off. I bet Ryan was thinking, damn these NFL guys are putting actors in the stands and trying to catch me off guard!!!

Clady's cousin was... different! I had to walk away when he started talking about his pecker still working though. TMI for me so I hit the Broncos store. Khan came and got me when the coast was clear and the line was movin! Dude started talking about Viagra and stuff. Here we are, a bunch of dudes at Broncos camp ready to go and see Payton Hillis, Ryan Clady, and Eddie Royal match their first day performances and we have some old dude talkin to us about "Viva Viagra" and his pecker still working without the stuff. AND HE DIDN"T SAY IT QUIETLY EITHER! The NFL needs to extend that rookie symposium to a week long course. This freak scared me, imagine how Clady felt. I think APA told him, "dude, what you're doing is called stalking!"
