Alright you Training Camp Junkies!
Day 2 report and as usual, a couple notes about training camp before I get to the player evaluations.
Showed up to camp roughly around 7:30 am or so, place wasn't nearly jam packed at first. Met up with Apa, Oskie and Kahn. All were nice guys to chat with. We all met Ryan Clady's "cousin". Guy wanted to get tickets from Clady and was yapping to Marshall about something. Forget what but like Oskie said, he was a real piece of work.
Also nobody heeded my advice on keeping their babies and kids at home. I was sitting alongside Oskie and everything was fine for awhile but you know kids, they can't sit still for long period of time. So it wasn't long until I ended up getting kicked and run into by these rascals. I turned to Oskie and Kahn and went "**** man" and soon after the parents took their kids and left. Kahn was like, "did you fart" because they left pretty quickly.
Anyway here is my report and some pics to follow later when I upload them from Photobucket...
Offense
Quarterbacks
Jay Cutler- Needs to work on some things, wasn't overtly impressive today. Still stares down recievers, and that will be corrected. I hope. Cutler was also off a little bit on the deep throws but on most throws he was pretty darn accurate. Both the recievers and QBs need to get the timing down, which is the purpose of camp.
Darrel Hackney- Looked A LOT better today, more accurate and poised when throwing the ball. Totally different player than yesterday, maybe he read my report.;D
Patrick Ramsey. Not good for most of the day, not impressive on throws. Throwing in the dirt and stuff. Not a great second day but he is a veteran so I think he will bounce back.
Running Backs-
Selvin Young- Ran well today, made a few nice catches. Don't see him giving up that #1 spot.
Michael Pittman- Didn't see or focus much on Pittman, but the one time I did was where he dove for a poorly thrown pass by Ramsey and got the wind knocked out of him. He plays hard so thats good.
Ryan Torain- Didn't pay a whole lot of attention to him either, but when I did he still is making the same mistake of running into walls but he did catch the ball effectively and juked somebody out. So some improvement from Torain today.
Andre Hall- Same as yesterdays report. Not much to say here, didn't see him.
Aldridge- Wasn't as noticeable as he was yesterday. Think it was because he got less reps.
Payton Hillis- Pretty quiet today, but still doesn't look like a rookie. Impressed Kahn when I talked to him about Hillis.
Cecil Sapp- I am surprised he was out with the first team today.
Wide Receivers
Brandon Marshall- Still looks a little tired and rusty. Getting better though, had a couple drops but they were poorly thrown passes. Other than the poor passes, he did have some great catches.
Glenn Martinez- Was pretty quiet today.
Eddie Royal- Needs to work on timing with the QBs, things just weren't clicking for him in drills they had the WRs doing.
Darrell Jackson- Looked very good today, Oskie was raving about him after training camp was over. I didn't see him drop a single pass.
Keary Colbert- Didn't see him much out there, wasn't really noticeable.
Brandon Stokely- Today Stokely looked good, but he also had a drop or two that I noticed.
Clifford Russell- I know I said he looks like Camp Fodder, but I think he saw Kahn and it pissed him off seeing as he hates the BYU chumps in the stands. He made several nice grabs, a decent improvement over yesterdays crap showing.
Marquay McDaniel- Didn't notice him much this morning.
Tight Ends
Tony Scheffler- Caught the ball really well again. He can really seperate and get in the open field. He almost caught a long ball but the ball was slightly overthrown by Cutler. Overall very good day for him.
Nate Jackson- Didn't see him on the field much, only saw him yapping but when it comes to on the field play, didn't notice him.
Brett Pierce- Not noticeable.
Chad Mustard- Didn't notice him, according to DenverBroncos.com he is still out of pads.
Daniel Graham- He caught a few balls over on the other side of the field first thing this morning. Hard to see from a distance but he did look improved over yesterday.
Offensive Line
Ryan Clady- A giant, the guy moves very well. One of my concerns prior to camp was whether Clady can adjust to the game speed of the NFL and picking up an NFL scheme. He looked fine today and I don't really have much concern about Clady. Should fit in just fine.
Erik Pears- Had a mistake yesterday, didn't notice him today which is a good thing.
Tom Nalen- Was Tom Nalen again.
Montrae Holland- Was TFTP and was on Sled duty. We were all laughing at him, because he was like, "Man, I hate this s***". :giggle:
Chris Kuper- Didn't see him make a mistake, so really I didn't notice him.
Ryan Harris- Didn't look too good today, as Kahn noted.
Ben Hamilton- Looked rusty to me, got blown up a couple times.
That's about it for the offense......defense next.
