I really dislike Favre now. I used to like him but all this drama made me lose a huge amount of respect for him. I hope they start Rogers.

BTW shouldn't you be at camp? ;D

Dude knows he is only going to be a distraction to the team and still does it. A lot of respect being lost for Farve right now.

Make him carry Rodgers helmet and shoulder pads. Run sprints with the rookies. He just listens to John Madden too much.

There were yells at the shareholder meeting to bring him back & start him :ouwknow:

They're cheese heads, Lord Favre is still on a pedestal there I'll wager

The New York Jets have received permission to talk to retired Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre, a source told ESPN's Chris Mortensen on Friday.

They should get Carl Peterson on the phone. I bet hey could get a sign & trade with Dorsey and next years 1st. :)

Actually, this is great for the Packers. They'll trade Favre before the season starts, and get one or multiple picks for him. Freebie picks, which they would not have gotten had Favre actually retired.

Perfect ... this will be fun to watch.

Telluride is right, this will be free picks for the Pack.

You guys have to remember that there is absolutely nothing else up in that part of the country! It's cold, snowy and icky for most of the winter and the only solice they have is the Pack...and Favre was their god!

So, reality is, he can do no wrong! I don't agree with it, I am sick of hearing about this guy and I'm quickly losing respect for him. But, seriously, most of you all know that if it were Elway, half of Bronconation would do the exact same thing!

Just retire, would ya!??

What and give up a chance for Brian Greise to be our QB???

Well, at the rate Favre is working at, we would have missed the whole Plummer era! Ha!

Will this blow up the Packers Cap?

Will this blow up the Packers Cap?

Nope. I think the hit is the same, but if anything, retirement would've hurt the cap worse (this year at least) than a trade would.

This topic isn't going away anytime soon is it? I mean even if he gets traded, everyone is going to talk about Favre now playing for the Tampa Bay Devil Cats... or whatever.

I was sad to see a QB like Favre go, but thought it was probably about time, but now this whole thing is ridiculous and I wish he'd just get back on his tractor and leave the rest of the NFL to focus on the future.

I was in Costco the other day and ran into a Packer fan while perusing new Tvs. I asked him about Favre and he said he has lost a lot of respect for him, because of his constant waffling on this issue. He said that the team need to make a decision and move on at some point, and Favre just keeps them in limbo with his yes/ No/ Maybe/ yes / maybe stuff.

So he's got at least some of the fan base POed.

I bet it's just a very low draft pick. Favre has very little left and his old, the very public nature of this debacle has put the Packers in a very poor position. My guess is they will just keep him or get a 5th or a 6th for him.

The Phins had all of the same things going against them and they managed a 2nd and a 6th for Jason Taylor. Add to that the fact that Favre is coming off arguably his best year in the last 10 years of his career, and that tells me they'll get more than just one garbage pick for him.

Yeah what kind of idiot fanbase would put their legendary QB up on a pedestal? Next thing you know they will probably be expecting all other QBs who come after to live up to those standards... pffft.

That said, I can't believe, after retiring as one of footballs great heroes a few months ago, how quickly Favre has totally reversed those sentiments. Want to know how to destroy your legacy in 6 weeks? Watch this guy.

Had Elway acted like an ass after retiring, he would have pissed people off here too. Fortunately, he is a much classier guy.

he's doing it to force a release. I think he's just doing what he has too. He's pushing the issue, release or trade.

I'm not sure I agree with either of those statements.

If the old man insists on 'coming back' - again - I wish he'd quit whining and get to camp and compete for the job. His idiotic idea that he should be annointed is contrary to everything competitive sports represent.

truth.

if elway wanted to suit up again after back to back bowls no one on this board would have said "ohh well he should compete with greeeeeze for the start"

and lets not forget elway toyed with the idea of retiring for the entire offseason after the 96 and 97 seasons.

if the packers dont want the trouble they should just make up their mind keep or release.

rodgers is screwed mental if they keep him on the team and dont start him.

I would not compare the two. JT was the best defensive player in the NFL just two seasons ago and is younger. Favre had a decent season last yr, but it had more to do with the defence and him being managed by his coach (which he hated, he has publicly stated he hates being a game manager). No self respecting NFL GM is going to think that Favre has bought into game management (see playoff game). Favre will have a lousy yr wherever he goes, whereas JT will have another excellent yr. Also, JT could probably give 4 yrs, whereas Favre will be lucky to have one more good yr left on him (he is too knuckleheaded to change his game now).
