Well we have one of the two motors fired up and running pretty good. We are like 30 minutes from firing the 2nd motor.

Soon my 28 foot sportfisher will be totally redone and ready for the Islands.

Get ready LynchMob!!!! your going!!!!!!!

dude remember when I said I wouldn't be good driving a big truck. I'm just as worried about going into the ocean with little experience so I plan on hiring this guy I know who is a certified captain.

As far as needing luck I will and lots of it boats suck!!!!

But hopefully some day it will be lots of fun

Gas for this beast will be an absolute nightmare!!!!

Oh well It can comfortable fish 4-5 guys easy so I will just need people to help out with gas. 80 bucks a piece should do it. Plus bait!!!!

I think I will start out more learning how to fish Horseshoe kelp bank locally, and then Catalina Island (calicos, halibut, White Seabass, Yellowtail etc)

Then after I get a little experience I might just go 80 miles out looking for Tuna who knows.

Hopefully El Nino comes again and they come really close to so calif again.

Honestly though at this point I will be excited to just get the boat on the water.

Been working on it for over a yr now.

I know there is a bank about 10 miles or so past San Clemente where I caught a big bluefin tuna in the late 80's. That was on a 50 foot boat though. I'm not sure how long it would take for me to have balls big enough to go out past Clemente but if someone who knew there stuff said my boat was up for it I would probably go for it.

I may be a smartass but thankfully I'm smart enough to know that I don't know jackola when it comes to the ocean and driving a boat.

Now I know quite about about how to catch fish. So many people though think because they have been out on the ocean 150 times fishing they know what to do. They don't understand that it was the captain of said boat that made sure you didn't sink.

dude I have nothing I am so far away I might as well give up fishing this summer. I'm trying to stay patient because I knew what i was getting into to. I got the boat cheap for a reason but it has potential.

No electronics though what was on boat was outdated and no radar.

I need sonar, vhf radio, radar, gps whole bit.

Anyone got 10 grand?

Dude,

Ever read "Old man and the Sea"? This old dude rows out to sea lands the biggest fish of his life before torn apart by Sharks,

IN A DINGY.

Don't be a wus, Bermuda Triangle is on the other side of the states!

lol funny.

the one good thing I have going for me is knowing a guy who makes his living chartering his six pack boat. He's a top notch captain so I can get good advice.

HAHAHA!

My Dad had a 20' sea ray out on Lake Michigan for a few years.

I was the only one with the balls in my family to take a long run away from South Haven. Put the dog in the boat and went north 20 miles or so, I was lucky it was a calm day about 2' swells/waves. Was fun but not something I live for. Kinda glad he sold it.

We all agreed Lake Michigan was too big for his 20 footer, 6 cylinder.

Good Luck on the Ocean...

Never, and I mean NEVER leave the dock without atleast a hand held VHF radio. God forbid you have any sort of engine trouble or another boat hits you, You have to be able to radio for help. A GPS is nice for finding fishing spots or getting to places that are to far to navigate by site. Radar is great for driving at night or in the fog and a "Sonar" and I assume you mean a side scanning sonar for locating schools of tuna is a luxury as is an auto pilot.

I have been fishing the pacific for over 20 years, you can never be too safe.

I was planning on buying a handheld and installing a fixed mount VHF. Make sure it has all the new DSC alert capability and what not.

Sonar I need for my fish finder

GPS I would like to have

Radar would be the last thing and I think I could do without that for a season or so.
