View Full Version : So who's covering training camp?

For the first time in many years it seems we don't have a dedicated crew willing to brave the heat or the critics of the Mane? Ha!

We seem SOL this year. It's going to keep the hype train at a slightly safer speed I guess.

He's probably more so. At least here he's successful in making people care about him.

Nothing like a men's handball tourney in August to get you ready for winter and Football season.

I heard Will Shields once walked by Boob on his way in from the practice field.

I will be able to make a couple of Saturdays. It will probably only be one session for each day, though. I'll for sure make the first Saturday. I won't have access like I did last year, though, so I will be limited by where I can stand and what I see. Better than nothing, I guess.

The guys and I at BT were looking for a sponsor (Denver area preferably) to cover the costs of covering training camp. Travel and hotel expenses mostly. We were planning to do daily videos and reports. We really believe the sponsors would get their money's work in ads and vid commercials.

It didn't happen this year, but if any of you are part of a business or know a business that would be interested in something like this, please let us know for next season (PM me is fine). We really think the fans deserve better than what the DPO and RMN will offer - now that the Mane and Mason are both MIA, we fans are going to be starving for coverage.

Kaylor...it's really none of my business, but was there fallout from your coverage of the camp last year, or do you just have too many other things going on than to feed us slack jaws our cocktails this year?

No, it's mostly that I don't have the PTO to do it. I need to work at my new job for another year before I have the wiggle room to take a few weeks off to do it.

I will say even if circumstances were better, I'd probably sit this one out anyway. I'll admit the motivation is way down. Originally I did these because during my time overseas I was dissatisfied with the way people were "covering" (or not covering) camp. I wanted a perspective from someone who watches the game and wants to know how they are actually playing more than stupid interviews with new players where they repeat all the generic answers. I didn't think people would really care so much what I thought. That people appreciated them so much made me feel like it was worth doing. Seeing the bus there and talking to Meck and Disco the first year was really fun. The next year Mediator and I hooked up and then when SoCal came out it was so much fun. Then we got access and it was like "Wow we're really doing some good stuff here. The three of us love this game and it's fun just to watch this stuff."

Things change, though. Mediator doesn't come anymore and SoCal can't make it this year either. I also think people started to take us for granted. The reports just seemed to piss people off, not everyone, but you all know who I'm talking about. I'll be honest, It kind of sucks getting up every day for free and standing in the sun and then coming home and writing 700 words of stuff and then having it thrown in your face. It's like, "well *expletive* you too! I don't have to be here!" People say "I'd love to do that!" and yes, it has been awesome. But it is work and it's not comfortable work. It's very time consuming and burning your vacation time so a few dickheads who never contribute anything to the Bronco Nation can tell you you're an asshole isn't fun. It's especially hard when there's no one out there with you. I talked to Meck and he gets where I was coming from. I have a new job I really like that pays well and after looking at the cost and that I don't have PTO, as well as personal commitments I decided it best if I just tap out on this year anyway.

I'm not trying to "teach" anyone a lesson. I'm doing this for me. I think I need it. I also honestly believed that several posters here could do just as good a job, if not better if they would step up.

I also want to add that Taco has been hugely supportive of this. Taco bought me a Cutler Jersey, too. That was pretty cool. And has been great about working with us in the past. When I told him my situation he was totally cool about it.

So there you go. Hope that clears things up.

Kaylore, is there any way you can impregnate 9+ women, get caught smoking lots of weed, fail to show up to your new job and get fired from it... all of this by the time training camp starts?

Though I understand this might conflict with some of your core values/beliefs...

In other words, I really have appreciated your updates through the years.:) :)

I am very depressed that I can't go this year. I really wanted to and what bothers me is that I missed it by a couple weeks. My new job that I started on February 11th had a rule that you cant use vacation credits for six months, which meant that I could not use them till, at earliest, August 11th, which is just barely a couple weeks after camp starts, so the timing killed me.

I will be able to go back next year, though.

while I'm sorry to read these sentiments...I do follow. I saw some of the pissing matches in action last season, but pretty much dismissed them as people being haters and seeking attention.

I'm certainly bummed to hear that your reports won't be coming this year, I can totally appreciate the effort required and understand why you would need a break.

fwiw, I thought that your reports were about the sweetest media information on the Broncos I came across...and based on ending rosters and player performance, remarkably accurate given it was just yourself for the majority of the time.
