Actually, this sounds staged. The phrasing and tone of the husband's voice when she first calls is pretty false -- and the whole thing just doesn't ring true. I snopes it, and there are several other very very similar "prank" calls as recorded by local shock jocks. I'm guessing both the people in this one are actors.

It's a fake. Many radio (FM Morning Zoo type) shows go to these radio shtick gags. You can hire a fake caller to talk about some off-the-wall topic (think Jerry Spriger type crap) or you can have them play the game where they find out about the cheating spouse/love interest.

Some many of these type bits being done on radio. From local yokel station to national sydicated shows like Valentine in the Morning. Hell even Howard Stern uses this type crap to fill time. Buba The Love Sponge uses this gimmick on a weekly basis.

It's gotten to a point where fans are hearing the same voice being used in the fake calls.

Radio is theater of the mind. Just remember that.
