I'm sick to death of that attention whoring clown. If the Packers' front office has any cojones, they'll move him to another team if he insists on coming back - again.

He could have just said "OK, I'm coming back for one more season" right after New York beat GB and nobody would have said anything negative about it. Doing it in July is ridiculous.

After playing the last few seasons with no purpose other than glory hunting for records, he shouldn't need to play anymore now that he got them.

I love the last paragraph .... "Favre doesn´t want to hurt the team or let it down" ... if that´s the case, then why didn´t he retire after he completed 29 passes to defensive backs in 2005? Why did he keep on playing and only retired several years later ... after he´d broken Elway´s and Marino´s records?

Farve is still playing at a very high level. If I were the Packers I would welcome him back.

He was soooooo bad in that play-off game. Looked like a old man on a cold day.

That he did.

But he still gives the Packers the best chance to win over Aaron Rodgers/Brian Brohm. So if you're the Packers do you want to take one more legit shot at a Super Bowl or go with one of the kids and hope you can get back there in (hopefully) 3-4 years? Either way it's going to be Rodgers or Brohm eventually but what's the difference if you put it off for another year?

When does Rogers' contract expire?

Bingo. If I could make that kind of money they'd have to rip the uni off me. Just stop with the attention whoring.

How the hell would the packers know if Rogers can actually play, he never gets a chance.

This is just another way for Favre to ditch training camp and then come in on his terms to throw for a few more records.

After all, Favre invented the QB position.

after the 2009 season

If Favre were to come back this year, that would mean Rogers takes over in his contract year. What makes them so sure he wont walk if he does well? Anyone else think it might be the case that the less time he has invested with GB on the field, the easier it might be to walk?

I wouldn't jump all over Farve so quick here. This is all coming from a source. It's not coming from Farve, his agent, or anybody in the Packers organization. His agent hasn't even heard anything about this. How has Farve and the Packers begun talks without the agent knowing? I'd wait until somebody not named "a source" said he plans on coming back.

I was just going to say the same exact thing. This guy just needs people talking about him and stirring up the pot. I used to love Favre but the past few years I've just grown so tired of his act and the guy I totally feel bad for is Aaron Rodgers.

Week 1 they are on espn and Week 3 they are on NBC both at home and the espn crew and madden will not even be talking about the game(well espn doesn't do that to begin with) and it's going to be a Favre love fest no matter if he comes back or not. Just stay retired, keep quiet and live your life on the farm or whatever he does.

I was sick of this act 5 years ago. He had his chance last year, Marino never got that close again.

Elway rode of into the sunset.

Citing NFL sources, multiple media outlets in Wisconsin reported on Wednesday that Favre or his agent James "Bus" Cook contacted the Packers about returning a few weeks ago and the conversation ended with the quarterback asking for his release. The team reportedly refused his request.

ESPN's sources said that while Favre asking for his release is a possibility, the situation hasn't yet reached that stage.

NFL network reported Favre contacting his local newspaper saying the whole thing was a rumor. Not true.

Clear case of collusion between program managers for NFL Live and NFL Total Access who couldn't think of **** to talk about today so they drummed this one up.

Does anyone wonder if Favre is denying it depending on Green Bay's level of interest in Favre?

Meh, I don't see why you all get so worked up about it. Football is all this guy has ever known. I suspect that if you don't have a serious injury or medical issues that help you make the decision to retire, it becomes very difficult to walk away from the only thing you've known your entire life and start a new chapter in your life.

Let's not forget either, that these guys are retiring in their late 30s. It's not like they're 62 or 65. They're young guys that all of sudden can't do what they've always done and are suppossed to go figure out something else to do now. Tough call if you ask me.

Cry me a 10 million dollar river, that's what he would of gotten this year...the Vikings would be a favorite too.

He's NOT INJURED and he's going in the booth when he wants anyway.

He's not stupid enough to blow his rep for the Vikes anyway I dont think.

If I'm Minnesota, I want Jackson to play as much as possible. That dude is gonna be good and the more he plays the better they will be in the long run.
