As Jim Carrey, in Liar Liar, says to his habitual offender client who needs legal advice:
STOP BREAKIN' THE LAW, ARSEHOLE!!

It's clear that this incident was what Shanahan and Cutler were really mad about back in March. I think Marshall should be suspended (unless of course he is found innocent, which he won't be) for the DUI a couple of games. It would send a message to him. I also hope the commissioner calls him in for a visit and says "ok what's going on here? Do you really want to become associated with Pac-man Jones and Chris Henry? Because right now you are." I think that would send something of a shock to him.
He's doing all the right things now, so if he's sincere it would change nothing, but if he is just going through the motions to take the heat off, something like that would help.

I agree. As much as I love BMarsh on the field - he's headed down a bad path. In a twisted way, he's been given a bit of pass IMO because of the lack of media coverage the Broncos net. Although Brandon had a great season last year, he is widely unknown in the ESPN community that controls who is and isn't known and who is and isn't a bad guy.
Most of the pressure has come down on Brandon locally, as on a national scene - Brandon Marshall isn't even a known player let alone a guy who caught 100 passes last year and even more so a guy with off-the-field troubles. If Brandon we're playing for the Patriots or Eagles or Giants - I wouldn't be surprised if he would've already met with the Commish. In time, if Marshall's problems continue, he will be on the national scene as Chris Henry and Pac-Man Jones became despite playing for other small-market teams. Unfortunately by that point, it may be too late.
If I'm the Broncos, I might consider a team-issued suspension should these charges be confirmed. It would show the league we're serious about cleaning up our locker room-act and show Brandon that this type of behavior won't be tolerated. Considering some of the problems he's had (not to mention the fact he may not be 100% at the beginning of the season anyway) - I think a team-issued 2-game suspension could do the team more good than harm in the long-run. Losing Marshall for a few games would sting, but losing him for the rest of his career would be far worse.

A team-issued suspension? And intentionally take out best reciever out of the equation for two games? Sure, I'd go for it...if one of those weeks was the bye week and the other week against a weak team like the chiefs or something.

His image is not the problem. It's his behavior. Fix the behavior and the image will take care of itself.

Not saying that it will happen but what if he proves to turn himself around and stop the antics would you admit that you were wrong.
Not calling you out, just curious if you would. I'm pretty sure I know you will just wanted to ask. Others on this board who are ready to bury him would never acknowledge that he changed they would just continue to say its only a matter of time.
I really think that the NFL needs to invest in their players. They throw money and fame at these kids who have to grow up really fast. Some come from broken homes and horrible situations. Some turn to diamonds under the pressure but too many crumble.

I think you almost have to do it, with the bigger picture in mind. Short term, it hurts. But you hope to send a message to him while he's still semi-impressionable. He could/should be an asset to this team for several years to come. That won't happen unless he removes his head from his ass.

I don't see why you all don't get this, he is a football player. And that means he gets to do whatever he wants to. Why would we let such a proud tradition change?

Everything aside what else would we talk about if he didn't do bone headed moves? It's sunny outside, um I like chicken, my ideal woman would be a brunette with a C cup, Jay has the beetus, for gods sake Marshall is saving broncos message boards.

Well he really has only been charged with a DUI. Many, many people get those. Yeah he has a violent and flawed relationship but at this moment it sounds like he very well could be the victim here.
So I am willing to give him a chance to right the ship. Again it very well could bite me in the ass but in my eyes Travis Henry is a ton worse than Marshall.

A few here would disagree but when it comes to situations like this, I am all about fairness. So yeah, if he stops making bad decisions off the field and stops acting like his showman mentors (TO, CJ and their ilk) on the field, I'd have no problem with him at all. Matter of fact, my admiration for him to be able to exacute that kinda turnaround would be off the charts.
That said, the hill gets steeper to climb with every incident and words only mean so much without actions behind them.....at this point, you have to cue up the Aerosmith whenever he tries to clear the air about anything until we see some actual results from his already tired "I need to change" rap

But as big a distraction as T.O. is at least he has never put the beatdown on his girlfriend.

The press is on his case big time now, and I think he will have a very difficult time implementing any changes to his life style. He has some "issues" dealing with women, and I just don't think the Broncos have the degree of patience they used to have. I would look for Marshall to either be traded or dismissed later this year. There are too many dramatics surrounding this boy and that is disruptive to the team and specific players.
The Broncos were looking for WRs when he came on, so it is not like the sun wont come up if he leaves.....

I gurantee the Broncos will not dismiss him or trade him. Its not like this March 6th came out of nowhere. The team was aware of it. Now if something else arises then yes its bye bye

What are the odds that "something else" will arise? I can agree that people can change their behaviors if the underlying "needs" can be met through more acceptable or appropriate channels. Chasing pone has a few alternatives, and the boy could afford them, but it would seem that there are other issues as well.
I appreciate the optimistic views, and I would agree that the legal side of domestic things seem less damning, but the DUI will not go away quite so easily as the female issues. However, I suspect there is an underlying alcohol obsession. He may be a candidate for the Betty Ford Spa.....
