Shaq takes a freestyle swipe at Kobe
1 hour, 23 minutes ago
NEW YORK (AP)—Just in case anybody had forgotten that Kobe Bryant has never won an NBA title without Shaquille O’Neal, the big man sent out a reminder.
The Phoenix Suns center can be seen rapping that “Kobe couldn’t do without me” in a video posted online at celebrity news and gossip site TMZ.com
During the two-minute video, a grinning O’Neal lurches through an improvised rap in which he skewers the Lakers’ star, with whom he won three straight NBA titles from 2000-2002 while with Los Angeles.
“I was freestyling. That’s all. It was all done in fun. Nothing serious whatsoever,” O’Neal told ESPN.com Monday. “That is what MC’s do. They freestyle when called upon. I’m totally cool with Kobe. No issue at all.”
O’Neal and Bryant last played together in 2004. After a long-simmering feud came to a boil in public, O’Neal was traded to Miami before the 2004-05 season, and won an NBA championship with the Heat in 2006.
Bryant and the Lakers didn’t reach the finals again until earlier this month, when the Boston Celtics beat them 4-2.
“You know how I be,” Shaq rapped. “Last week Kobe couldn’t do without me.”
O’Neal, who has recorded seven albums, also said he is “the difference between first and last place” and even took a jab at former New York Knicks center Patrick Ewing’s lack of championship rings.

People were going to hold Elway to the fact that he couldn't win the big one until he did. People were going to say the same thing about Manning until he did. Kobe need to go out and do the same thing.
All I'm asking is "is he lying?" I just think that its ok to call someone out on something if he is using the truth.
I mean isn't ok to call someone out if someone hasn't done something and it is a known fact that they haven't done it?

Shaq talking gangsta is a joke. He rolls with the police and any real gangsta would love to cap him in his big head. LOL Shaq dropping N-bombs and making fun of white people. What's the bigger joke the fact he only won it because dwyane wade was so good and he doesn't realize that, or Shaq trying to pan himself off as a hood gangsta when he rolls with the police and has participated in drug raids?

Lakers are a young team. I would say Kobe has 3-4 good yrs left to try and win another one. He may play longer then that but I think he will still be really good for that long. Shaq, well he is pretty much washed up now. He just isn;t very good anymore and his FT % makes him a liabilty late in every close game you play.

Don't we all have our own motivations. Weather it is resentment, hate or whatever the argument is valid. I mean don't you think that Shak feels that he could have won that championship if he was on that team?

How long ago was that?
I mean come on, he left LA feeling betrayed, went to Miami and won a title.
You got over big man, move on.
Shaq didn't reck Nash's Suns. That train was well on it's way anyhow. And if you look at the Spurs series, who was the starter that played the worst? It was Nash. He was absolutely horrible against the Spurs. I also hated how D'Antoni went about dealing with the "hack-a-shaq" episodes. Leaving him in there to think he will all of a sudden hit 75% or something, what a joke.
As for the Lakers 3 in a row, Shaq knows they both needed each other to win. Neither could have done it alone.

Fact is, Shaq is washed up, he's half the player he used to be. But, he did manage to win a championship in Miami and I think that says alot about his longevity.
So what if D. Wade carried the team, the Heat could not have gotten to the NBA finals, let alone won the title without Shaq.
As for his angst against Kobe and the Lakers, why shouldn't he feel bitterness? That whole situation was screwy as hell, and the sad part about it is that if Kobe and Shaq could have worked things out, the Lakers probably would have at least one more NBA title.
In retrospect, I'm very glad Kobe and Shaq went their separate ways and could not work together. But, IMO, Kobe's got an MJ complex where it's him and 4 other guys out there on the court. The only differece is that MJ made those around him better, he elevated their game. Kobe doesn't know how to do that.

While they didn't win it all this year I think Kobe made huge strides in improving those around him. MJ is the GOAT, Kobe is Kobe. If you continue to compare him to MJ you will get the same answer. MJ was better.

During the 3 Peat? Where did you come up with that from? Kobe played very well in the Finals during the 3 Peat. Kobe came up big time in the Western Conference Finals each year, when they were playing a much tougher team. Shaq got the MVPs, which he deserved, but Kobe played a major role.

Shaq gets slapped by sheriff for rap about Bryant
2 hours, 26 minutes ago
Buzz Up PrintPHOENIX (AP)—Shaquille O’Neal will lose his special deputy’s badge in Maricopa County because of language he used in a rap video that mocks former teammate Kobe Bryant.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said the Phoenix Suns center’s use of a racially derogatory word and other foul language left him no choice. Arpaio made Shaq a special deputy in January and promoted him to colonel of his largely ceremonial posse earlier this month.
“I want his two badges back,” Arpaio told The Associated Press on Tuesday. “Because if any one of my deputies did something like this, they’re fired. I don’t condone this type of racial conduct.”
Shaq was seen in a video posted on the celebrity news and gossip Web site TMZ.com rapping that “Kobe couldn’t do without me.” O’Neal skewers the Lakers’ star, with whom he won three straight NBA titles from 2000-2002 while with Los Angeles, for not being able to win a championship without him.
“I was freestyling. That’s all. It was all done in fun. Nothing serious whatsoever,” O’Neal told ESPN.com Monday. A call to the Suns on Tuesday seeking comment from O’Neal was referred to his public relations firm, which didn’t immediately respond.
Arpaio, who describes himself as “America’s Toughest Sheriff” and is best known for feeding jail inmates green bologna, clothing them in pink underwear, and making them work on chain gangs, said he didn’t expect his actions would teach Shaq a lesson. But he hoped he learns that as a role model who wants to someday be a full-time sheriff, he needs to know his words matter.
“Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I don’t think that either conduct should be out there publicly, even if media wasn’t there,” Arpaio said.
O’Neal previously served as a reserve officer with the Miami Beach Police Department while playing for the Miami Heat. He also volunteered with the Tempe Police Department after being traded to the Suns in February .

Thats why I was pointing out what a tool shaq is. I mean any real gangsta who hangs with the like a Biggie (rip) would leave shaq with bullet holes in his superman act. Shaq what do you want to be a thug who drops n bombs or a cop? you can't be both. You can't go around as a psuedo deputy and then go act like a gangster and expect to credibility in either world.
Props to the Sheriff for dumping on Shaq. Kobe should just take the high road and say Shaq is right I haven't won it all without him and I won't ever be able to just win it on my own. I will need my teammates and I think I have some good ones here right now. I'll be back next yr to try and get LA another championship. I don't want that to show up Shaq however, I just want to show the Lakers that they made the right choice.
